She cried as she described being excommunicated by the Church. It was "truly and truly" one of the most painful experiences of her life.

Monica Garcia, star of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, reveals why she was excommunicated by the Mormon Church.

The RHOSLCnewcomer, while shopping with co-star Heather Gay in Tuesday's episode of Bravo, revealed that she had been excommunicated after admitting to an 18-month relationship with her brother-in law.

Monica, 38 explained to Heather (49), who had publicly denounced Mormonism, that she was raised in the Church because her mother converted.

Heather then asked her why she had been excommunicated.

Monica joked, "Yeah you thought you were bad Mormon! ", after revealing that she had f--ked her brother-in law for 18 months.

Heather asked Monica if she had had an affair, Monica replied that it was with the husband of her husband's sister.

Heather's question about how she "got a catch" prompted a more serious conversation.

Monica confessed, "I did it." I felt guilty. "I went to see my bishop."

Heather responded that while she was excommunicated her brother-in law wasn't.

Monica became emotional and broke out in tears as she spoke about the experience.

"Girl... [it] was genuinely, and honestly, probably one of the worst things that ever happened to me," she said. "I felt so bad and I thought I was being unwelcome by everyone."

She added, "I felt as if I had been tagged." "And to see him not going through that ..."

Heather finished Monica's sentence. "I know that I feel it."

Monica was candid in her confessional with Heather. She told the cameras: "I don't really know Heather but I think we have a similar background. It's easier to be honest about my past and all that I've experienced, since everything comes out. "The true power of owning your past is that no one can ever weaponize it against your."

The drama continues in The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. It airs Tuesdays at 9:00 p.m. ET on Bravo.
