Tom Hanks has also spoken out publicly against an alleged commercial that used his likeness, allegedly without permission.
Zelda Williams is the daughter of Robin Williams and she has criticized AI for recreating her father.
In an Instagram post she shared over the weekend Zelda described the "disturbing” way artificial-intelligence software was being used to mimic the voice and likeness of her father.
Zelda, who is a member of SAG-AFTRA, wrote on Sunday that she was not an unbiased voice in SAG’s fight against AI. "I've seen for years how many people are trying to train these models in order to create/recreate actors like dad who can't consent."
The actress, 34, continued: "This isn’t theoretical. It is very, very real."
"I have already heard AI being used to get his voice to say what people want, and while it is personally disturbing to me, the implications go beyond my feelings," Zelda stated of her father. Williams, who died of suicide in 2014 at the age 62, after a struggle with anxiety, Parkinson's and depression.
She continued, "Living Actors deserve a chance for them to create characters using their choices, voice cartoons and put their HUMAN efforts and time in the pursuit of performance."
Zelda called AI's resemblances of living and dead artists a "facsimile" of the greatest people at best. She also noted that, when the software is wrong, it can be like "a horrible Frankenstein monster, cobbled together with the worst parts of what this industry stands for, instead of the ideals it should represent."
Artificial intelligence was at the heart of the SAG-AFTRA strike and the WGA strike. Last month, writers were able to get protection from AI as part of their new contract.
The contract says that "AI cannot write or rewrite literature material." The WGA may also deem it illegal if a company is using a writer’s work to train AI models. The WGA can also prohibit companies from using AI to write material.
Sean Penn, Bryan Cranston and Jamie Lee Curtis are among those who have expressed their concern over the use AI in Hollywood. Tom Hanks is the latest to speak out about an AI-produced advertising campaign.
Cast away actor Tom Hanks said on Instagram that a new advertisement using his image to promote dental plans is fake. Hanks said, "There's an ad out there that promotes some dental plan using an AI version me." "I'm not involved."
Hanks has also previously discussed the challenges AI poses to the film and television industries. He shared his experience with artificial-intelligence software during an appearance in May on Adam Buxton's Podcast.
Hanks said that the film The Polar Express was the first movie in which a large amount of data from our own computer had been locked up.
He continued, "We saw it coming." We saw this coming. "We knew that it was possible to turn the zeros and ones in a computer into a character or a face. This has grown by a billion-fold in the last few years, and it is everywhere.
He told reporters that "discussions are going on" in the SAG and WGA strike, which lasted months, about the legal implications of his face and voice, as well as everyone else's.
Hanks said that the fact that viewers will not be able to know that they are watching a fake image of him, or of another actor, is particularly disturbing.
AI or deep-fake technology allows anyone to recreate themselves in any age. Hanks said, "I could be run over by a bus and my performance would continue for years." "Outside the understanding that it was done by AI, or deep fake, nothing will tell you that it is not me and I alone. It's going have some level of lifelike-quality."
