The comedian, who was a panelist for "The View" in 2006 and 2007, said that her argument with Walters "got louder and people were shocked because no one talked to her this way."
Rosie O'Donnell has revealed that she got into a "huge argument" with Barbara Walters once on the set of "The View". "
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter the comedian, who was a panelist of "The View" in 2006 and 2007, said that she had a disagreement with the late journalist when Walters allegedly made a call to Donald Trump to "apologize" during O'Donnell’s public feud against him.
"Barbara fought with me over Donald Trump. O'Donnell recalled that he published an open-letter to me in The Post. In it, he said that she had called him to apologize for her behavior. "I was like, Whoa."
She continued, "We had a fight in the makeup room on that particular day." "I said to her, 'I cannot believe that I've not heard from you in all this time yet that you have been communicating with him. Do you consider him your real friend, Barbara? "I thought we had a real relationship and that it was different from the way you have been treating me.
Walters' confrontation with the TV personality "got loud, and people were shocked because nobody spoke to her that way."
"I should not have said that I said something to her about her daughter." She was hurt. O'Donnell added that they were on air in just 20 minutes. She also said she did not say anything "horrible about Walters's daughter." "Sometimes, I find the episode and watch it. I can tell how tense things were. But I apologized to my friend many times and we were able to move on and see each other again [before she died in 2022].
O'Donnell also opened up in another interview about her relationship to Ellen DeGeneres and their apparent fallout.
The actress claimed that Ellen had hurt her feelings years ago, when she made an "unkind" comment during an interview with Larry King.
"Larry King asked, 'What happened to Rosie O'Donnell's Show? She recalled this to THR. Ellen's quote was, "I don't even know Rosie. We are not friends. "I was watching TV with my wife in bed and she asked me, 'Did that just happen?'
O'Donnell spoke before about Ellen's remark when she appeared on "Watch What Happens Live", in September. She told THR, however, that Ellen had texted her shortly after seeing her interview.
She wrote: "I'm sorry, I don't know what happened." She explained, "I guess she heard me talking about it on Andy Cohen’s show." I remembered it so clearly that I printed T-shirts and gave them to all my staff saying 'I don’t know Rosie. We're no friends. I have a photo of her holding my then-infant Parker. I know her mother. I knew her brother even without her being in the room. I've known her for many years. "I just didn't feel comfortable with this person being in my world."
O'Donnell then explained why she had never appeared on the "Ellen DeGeneres" Show.
She used the same staff as my show - Jim Paratore and Andy Lassner. This was strange. She told THR that it was very similar. "I asked to be on the show because I had something I wanted to promote, but she refused. And I remember thinking, "Seriously?" "After she refused to let me appear on the show that one time, I said no every time they asked."
