Ruby Franke's Husband Denies Abusing Children After Wife's Arrest, 'Distraught' at Allegations

Ruby Franke's Husband Denies Abusing Children After Wife's Arrest, 'Distraught' at Allegations

Kevin Franke's attorney was asked about his involvement in the raising of six children. He said that his client "never supported or condoned" abuse.

The husband of Ruby Franke - the YouTube mom who has been arrested for child abuse - denies any involvement with the allegations made against his wife.

Kevin Franke and Ruby Franke have six children between them - Shari, Chad and Abby. Julie, Russell, Eve and Julie. According to Kevin Franke's lawyer, the kids lived with their mother, and he was unaware of any abuse that occurred before her arrest.

Randy S. Kester, an attorney who appeared on Wednesday's Good Morning America, said that the two had been living apart in separate homes for thirteen months. Kester, who said his client is "distraught," over the impact of Ruby's allegations on his family, added that Kevin was a "good person, very gentle and gentle guy" with no allegations made against him.

Kester added, "He wants to protect his children, bring them back under his tutelage and fathership, and get them protected."

Last night, the attorney appeared on Chris Cuomo’s newsNation program, where he said that all parties in the case had agreed to "not speak ill of anybody" during the proceedings in order to protect children.

Kester replied "Absolutely" when asked if Kevin played any role in the behavior being accused. Cuomo continued, asking how it was possible that they had lived together when they didn't know the two were apparently separated.

Kester said that "Mom took the children for the summer, and she went to another county with them." "If he knew or suspected there was abuse, he would be all over it."

Kevin's lawyer responded that any abuse that occurred "in a home that was several hundred miles from Mr. Franke" happened when Cuomo asked if "everything took place after he left". Kester added, "He has never supported or condoned abuse."

He said that his client was "not around the children" during the summer but refused to respond to any allegations of possible misconduct while he lived with his family.

All of the Frankes appeared in videos for 8 Passengers, a channel that was launched in 2015. It had a fan base of more than 2 million before being shut down earlier this year. Insider reports that some viewers deemed the Frankes parenting style abusive while Ruby's comments were considered offensive. She and Jodi launched the ConneXions Podcast after the 8 Passengers Channel was deleted. This also caused some criticism.

Last week, police in Utah took Ruby and Hildebrand into custody. Since then, they have been charged with aggravated abuse of children.

The Santa Clara-Ivins Public Safety Department reported that a citizen called the police on Wednesday after a child appeared "emaciated" and "malnourished." The caller stated that the child was "emaciated and malnourished" with open wounds.

The release stated that "the condition of the youth was so severe, they were transported to a hospital in the local area by Santa Clara Ivins EMS." Police searched the house after receiving information that other "in similar conditions" might be in the home. They found "another child in a similar physical state of malnourishment."

The child was also treated in hospital.

After obtaining a warrant for a search, the Public Safety Department stated that "evidence consistent with the markings on the juvenile was located" -- and that four minors had been placed in the Department of Child and Family Services' care. According to Fox13 Now, Franke appeared in a YouTube video taken at the house just days before. Police said that the footage was "confirmatory" of Franke's presence and knowledge about the malnutrition, abuse and neglect.

Kevin's lawyer concluded that if the allegations were true, Kevin had never supported, condoned, or even acted physically towards these children. "I believe we're going to have to let the courts play that."
