The actor reveals his chance encounter with the late singer when he was working in Ireland.
Russell Crowe paid a touching tribute to Sinead o'Connor following her death. He posted an array of Tweets that detailed the time he met with the singer in Ireland.
"Last winter, while working in Ireland and drinking a pint outside a Dalkey bar with new friends, we saw a woman walking past us with a purpose. Crowe said, "Puffy parker was zipped up to her nape with her head covered by a scarf."
"One of my friends shouted an exclamation and jumped up, then pursued the woman. He continued, "Thirty metres further down the road, the friend and woman hugged and he waved me over." Sinead was standing under streetlights, with mist on her breath. She looked into my eyes and said with a disarmingly soft voice, "Oh, Russell, it's You."

The actor said, "She sat with us at the table in the cold while ordering a cup of hot tea." In a conversation that was free of fences, we discussed the recent heatwave in Dublin, local politics in Australia and the United States, the fight for indigenous recognition around the world, including in Australia. We also talked about faith, music, movies, and her brother, a writer.
He added, "I had an opportunity to tell [her] she was my hero."
Crowe concluded that "when her second cup took on the night air she rose up, hugged us all, and strode off into the fog-dimmed streetslights." "We all four of us sat down and expressed ourselves in different ways."
He concluded, "What an incredible woman." "Peace to your brave heart, Sinead."
There are no further details about the death of the Irish musician.
In a press release to Irish Times, the singer's family stated: "It was with great sadness that I announced the death of our beloved Sinead." Her family and her friends are distraught and have asked for privacy during this difficult time.
Her three children survive her. Shane, Sinead’s son, died at the age of 17 last year. The body of Shane was discovered on 7 January 2022, just two days after his disappearance.
Over the course of her career, Sinead has released 10 studio albums. In 1990, her song No One Compares 2 You reached the top of the charts worldwide.
