The 38-year old actress made a rare statement about her first marriage, Ryan Reynolds, while appearing on Gwyneth's podcast "Goop".

Paltrow corrected Johansson when she asked if she had been married twice. The "Black Widow' actress said that she has been married "three" times.

Johansson began dating Reynolds in 2007. They got married in September after getting engaged in May. Two years later, in December 2010, the couple separated. Their divorce was finalized on July 11, 2011. Reynolds married Blake Lively, a Hollywood actress in 2012. They have four children together.

Johannson then moved on to the journalist Romain D'Auriac. They got engaged in September 2013 and welcomed Rose in August 2014. They married in October. Johansson, Dauriac and their daughter Rose divorced in 2017 after calling it quits in 2016.

Paltrow asked Johansson what she has "learned" about marriage and long-term relationships. The "Lost in Translation' actress replied, "I realized that there were certain fundamental aspects of your personality that -- for me -- I had to share with other people."

"I didn't realize that it was so important to me. I needed to be around a compassionate individual. She added that this is a basic characteristic.

After her divorce from Dauriac Johansson started a relationship "Saturday Night Live's" Colin Jost. They got engaged in April 2019 and married in October 2020. In August 2021, they welcomed their son, Cosmo.

Johansson said to Paltrow, "It's important that you know what your partner needs in terms of the fundamentals." "I believe for longevity... "I think identifying these things was a big game changer for me."
