She recalled, when talking with Randy Spelling and her husband about her teen years of partying, a time that she "frothed and foamed" at a rave.
Sharnaburgess opens up about her drug-taking as a teenager.
Burgess revealed that she began smoking meth when she was 17 years old on the podcast Old-ish. She co-hosts the show with her now-fiance Brian Austin Green, Randy Spelling and Randy Spelling.
Burgess remembered, "We were sitting in the backyard of someone’s house and a crackpipe was being passed around that contained meth, and we all took hits from it."
The Australian dancer revealed that she started dabbling in drugs at the age of 15 and admitted that meth is "new" for her. She doesn't smoke it every day or consider herself addicted.
She said, "It was definitely a party drug at the time. I was partying - pretty much three or four days a weeks."
Burgess said, "Here was I, 17 years old and high-alert for three days. I watched 20-somethings, maybe even young 30 somethings, passing around this crackpipe just waiting to get more out of it."
Burgess, a pro-athlete who claimed a knee injury had forced her to step away from the ballroom at the time, slowly began to see what was happening around her.
She went on to say, "I realized I had been an Australian champion in ballroom dancing, I represented Australia at the World Championships and I was a top athlete at the time. A knee injury caused me to fall off... "But I saw how far I had fallen and how badly I needed to return to the person I used to be."
Burgess referred to that moment as a "blessing" because it not only brought dancing back into her life but also took her out of the party crowd that she was surrounded with at the time. The now-mom who shares a one-year old son with Green credits dance and the "moment the universe" brought her. She said that she truly changed her life.
This was only one of the many "scary situations" that the star described. Burgess recalled a rave night where she had "taken too many things" and became dehydrated. She started "frothing and frothing" at her mouth.
Burgess said that she sought out the "place of euphoria," often because of her dysfunctional home life. She attributed this to dehydration, and the "cocktail" she had taken at the time.
Burges said that she felt "uncomfortable" with her life and that she used drugs as an "escape".
She continued, "And eventually the things I took to get to this place of euphoria were not strong enough or sufficient." "And I have done more and had more and more frequently." "And that was my slippery slope."
Burgess describes the years that she was unable to dance while she recovered from her injury as being difficult. She says the sport "kept me safe and sane."
She was able to dance again and get away from drugs. It helped her more than stopping cold turkey.
