Sharon Stone opens up about the traumatizing repercussions of 1992's "Basic Instinct"

During an appearance on the iHeartPodcast, Bruce Bozzi revealed that she was admitted at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester after losing custody of her son Roan in the early 2000s. Stone shares Roan her ex-husband Phil Bronstein.

"I was denied custody of my child." My child, my little boy, was asked by the judge if his mother made sex movies. Stone replied.

She added that she felt "like, this type of abuse by system", "because I made that film."

"Basic Instinct" featured an controversial implied nudity scene, which took the world by storm. Stone claims that this scene influenced the judge's decision not to grant her custody.

"People are walking around naked on regular TV and you only saw maybe a sixteenth second of possible nudity - and I lost custody," said the "Casino” star.

The actress admitted herself to the hospital after she lost Roan. She explained that she ended up at the Mayo Clinic with extra heartbeats in both the upper and lower chambers. It broke her heart.

Stone said that the film also had lasting effects on her career and life among her peers.

She began, "I was nominated for a Golden Globe because of that role in Basic Instinct." "When they called my name at the Golden Globes, I was surrounded by laughter.

Sharon described the moment as "horrible" while recalling feeling so humiliated during the awards ceremony.

At the time she thought, "Does anyone know how difficult it was to play that role?" It was so difficult and scary, how hard it was to do this right, and try to carry that complex movie that was breaking all boundaries. Everyone was protesting against the pressure.
