Gwendlyn reacts to father Kody's comments that some of her siblings "don’t fit in with the rest of our family."

Gwendlyn Brown supports Leon Brown, her brother, in his decision to leave the "Sister Wives Family" after coming out as transgender.

The 21-year old TV personality shared her YouTube channel video, explaining her 27-year-old brother's reasons for keeping her distance and how she reacted to TLC's recent episode about their unconventional family.

Kody Brown, their father, could be heard claiming that Meri, Janelle and Christine, the children he shares in his family -- Meri, Janelle and Christine -- are not "uniform" as a family. The Brown family patriarch stated that Leon, Paedon and Dayton, Aurora, Breanna don't fit in with the rest.

Northern Arizona University student called her father and said he was "beyond right". Leon explained that he has decided to be distant from the family to allow them "emotional space."

Gwendyln said that Leon has been the odd one out since childhood because they didn't have siblings to get along with. "They felt like the odd man out."

Leon is Kody’s only child.

She noted that Leon is transgender and queer and that the Sister Wives family practices Mormonism, which she said "hasn’t traditionally been kind to queer people", especially in a conservative family that opposes transsexuality .

Christine Brown's daughter claimed that her brother has "just been separing themselves from the situation" and been sticking with people who are safer for her.

Gwendlyn said, "It is not that they are not fitting in."

Leon posted on Instagram in June 2022 to declare that he was queer and transgender.

"I was recently told by someone that I didn't need to know all my s--- in order to be able to share my experiences with the world. Kody Brown was the only child. Meri Brown was the other child. My name is Leon (or Leo) and my pronouns include they/them.

"I can still remember the first time I realized I wasn't a woman. Leon explained that I was very young and that I grew up in a gendered, restrictive environment. "So I was socialized as a girl and later as a woman. Here's the truth: I am finally ready to share my favorite selves with the world. This self is transgender, genderqueer, and unapologetic.

Leon also posted the message, adding that anyone who refuses their correct name or pronouns moving forward doesn't have to "talk to or about" her. Mom Meri shared Leon's Instagram Story to her Story, adding an emoji saying "You are my sunshine"

Kody married Meri his first wife in 1990. Janelle joined the family in 1993 with a spiritual union. Christine was the next to spiritually marry into the family, in 1994. Robyn followed suit in 2010. Kody divorced Meri to legally marry Robyn in 2014

Christine filed for divorce from Kody in November 2021. Meri and Kody had announced their separation in January. He has also separated from Janelle.
