They also shared their plans to share their most embarrassing moments with their children and their biggest fashion regrets.
Nicole "Snooki", Polizzi, and Tori Spelling will be ending 2021 in the most chaotic way possible: With the return of their MTV series "Messyness".
The "Jersey Shore” star hosts the show, which features a panel that includes comedian Teddy Ray, Olympic medalist Adam Rippon, and Spelling. They also discuss the art of being an idiot on camera, as the gang looks at some of the most viral videos online.
The special will run for a week and include new episodes every day through New Year's Eve. Snooki and Tori are returning to the series for more Season 1 in 2022, and there is a second season being green-lit. They sat down to discuss their messy pasts and how they can "own" it.
What were your expectations of eachother before the show? How did it change after you both started working together for a second season?
Nicole: I must admit, I was nervous about meeting Tori. She's an icon. I was like "is she gonna stick up?" Are they going to be mean? I'm nervous.' Then, when I met her, she was completely the opposite. She is so down to earth, chill and down to earth. So, I was happy. I feel like Tori and I are best friends now.
Tori: Same. Nicole's was a huge favorite of mine and I was like, "I don't know. It's like a brand new playground." You're bringing in new children. Sometimes it can be difficult for girls and I didn't know that. I thought, "I hope she likes my." It was instantaneous.
Are you excited to get back to normal now that things have started to look up? You may have been to The Abbey for a few nights, but that's it.
Nicole: Because I live in Jersey, I feel like I have to make sure that I go out to dinner with Tori after filming the show. I'm only there for three days, and I want to get to know everyone.
Is it something that you have learned over time or has it been easier to laugh at your mistakes? Did you reach a turning point?
Tori: It was something I was always interested in. I knew that the public was not always on board with it. They were quick to make judgments about me for being messy, even though it wasn't messy. It was difficult to admit that I could own it now. It was mine, but I didn't share it with the public because I felt so judged. It feels like this show, and being friends with Nicole, is something I can truly own. As a friend, she's so encouraging, and I feel like I should be showing this side of myself. This is me I love.
Nicole: I have been messy six seasons on Jersey. I still feel like everyone owns it. We don't need to be ashamed of being ourselves. It fits me.
Your kids will also be able to see some of the past messy moments. Has that changed how you behave now?
Nicole: No. Nicole: No. I try to be authentic and have fun. My kids don't watch my show. If they do, I tell them that I'm just an actress. I'll one day have that conversation with my kids and say, "Mommy is crazy sometimes" and they will love me for it.
Tori: Only my two oldest children have ever seen Messyness. They say, "Mom, you did what?" They're like, "Mom, you did what?" I'm like, "Yeah, everyone's got moments in their youth." I was like, "Listen, that was so many years ago."
Nicole, even your messy moments have been capitalized on -- you can now sell merch with your arrest photos and Messy Mawma wines. It's so nice to be able to turn that into a business.
Nicole: It's great that people appreciate it. I don't know if I would act classy pretending to be a good person. It's not the way it works. It's chaos everywhere. I'm a person who can take it all. It's a wonderful feeling to know that people appreciate that stuff.
This special will last for a week and is just in time for New Year's Eve. What are your plans for the year? Do you have any New Years Resolutions for 2022 or 2019?
Nicole: I am usually asleep by 10 in the morning, and Gianni and I are like wine-drinking losers in bed. We no longer stay awake until the ball drops. I hope for something more festive this year. I find it so much fun to stay up until 12 in the mornings and it makes me happy. However, I feel like an elderly lady.
Tori: Yes, welcome to my world.
Would you be willing to share any embarrassing New Years memories with us? Nicole, I know you used to beg to be allowed into the Times Square ball once in a while.
Nicole: They didn't ask me, but I said yes. It was incredible. I think that was my most embarrassing moment. I didn't know whether I was going to fall so I thought, "If I die and I fall, I drink." So I got lost in that plastic ball and it was incredible.
Tori: I think my worst New Year's Eve moment would be when I decided to not eat clam-chowder. One year ago, long before I had kids, they served clam-chowder because they have a set menu for New Year's Eve. It was clam chowder, and everyone was drinking tequila shots. They didn't mix well together for me, and I didn’t make it to midnight. Passed out!
You talk about your style mistakes and regrets in the first episode. Nicole discusses having red hair and you both discuss bad tans. How does it feel to have your regrets immortalized in photos and online forever?
Nicole: It's not great. These aren't my best moments. It's funny because it was that moment when I thought I was hot. It's disgusting, I think. It's a great laugh.
Tori: It's a bummer because everyone has them, 'You should've seen what I wore in high school', but ours are only documented so people can google and ask, 'What was your thinking?'
Nicole: I've been there. Shut up!
Do you know of any red carpet outfits that stand out? '
Nicole: I don't know which one but I felt hot.
Tori: In the 90s I was obsessed with sunflowers and daisies, so I wore a daisy gown and then I got real daisies to put on my hair.
Nicole: It's so '90s!
Tori: I think it might have worked, but when I reached the red carpet they were already wilted and dead because they were real.
[Editor's Note: These photos were taken by Spelling at "Batman Forever," back in 1995. The daisies aren't bad, we found them! ]
Nicole, let's ask you about your return to Jersey Shore following a short break. Was it easy to get back in full? It is never easy.
Nicole: It's like I never left, because I have been filming with my roommates since years. Although the break was necessary, I missed everyone so it was great to be back. It was so much fun. Drama is always there, but it's nothing serious. We are all one family, so we can get over it. It's always exciting. Every time we get together, there's always something that goes wrong. Then everyone is dramatic again. It's a rollercoaster ride.
Do you know of any other products that could be used on Messyness?
Nicole: Deena and I definitely had some meatball moments. It's old school and I think people will enjoy it.
"Messyness," a week-long event, returns Monday, December 27, at 9pm. Additional episodes will drop in January after new episodes of "Jersey Shore Family Vacation." "
