Joe Biden, the president of the United States, said he "had no damn idea" that South Korean leader Kim Jong-un could sing – let alone so well.

Yoon Suk-Yeol, the South Korean President who was the guest of honour at the event, didn't expect to be the star of the show and take the internet by storm with his performance of a classic American song.

Yoon performed his favorite song "American Pie" by Don McLean, a 1971 classic, at the White House State Dinner on Wednesday.

You can watch the rendition below. It stunned the audience and even President Joe Biden, who said he didn't know the South Korean leader was able to sing, let alone so well.

It all started when a translator revealed that Yoon had loved the song since his schooldays.

Biden said, "We want to hear it," Yoon replied. Yoon then took the microphone and stunned everyone in attendance.

Angelina Jolie was among those who gave the performance standing ovations.

Biden told Yoon, "I know you also like guitars," before presenting him with a signed guitar from McLean.

Biden promised Yoon as the main entertainment at the next State Dinner.
