Stars Who Totally Hated Being Impersonated On Saturday Night Live

Stars Who Totally Hated Being Impersonated On Saturday Night Live

"I could just slap this woman...People wanted to hear me talk like that on Cameos. "I'm like, "I don't know how to talk like that."

"Saturday Night Live," despite its celebrity impersonations, is not a show that everyone loves. There are many famous faces who would prefer that the show cut them out of further sketches. Celebrities like Mark Wahlberg, Kathie Lee Gifford and others have admitted they don't find it very funny and find the impressions less than flattering.

Continue reading to learn why these stars didn't like their impersonations.

1. Mark Wahlberg

Andy Samberg's portrayal of Mark Wahlberg on Saturday Night Live was not something Mark liked. Andy impersonated Mark several time during Andy's stint on the show in the "Mark Wahlberg Talks to Animals” sketch. The actor found it hilarious. Mark even claimed that he wanted Andy to punch him in the face!

"Someone showed this to me on YouTube. "It wasn't like Tina Fey playing Sarah Palin, that is for sure. Saturday Night Live hasn’t been funny since a long while," Mark stated during an interview with The NY Post.

2. Kathie Lee Gifford

Kristen Wiig, star of "SNL," poked fun at Kathie Lee Gifford by impersonating her on the program. Although she was certainly free to be creative while playing the talk show host on SNL, Kathie Lee wasn’t happy about it. She brought it up several times on her morning show, saying Kristen was not a good singer and had ruined a song.

She said, "Everyone seems enjoys it...but it's not that funny," later adding, "Can she get another job?" Do something else?

3. Anderson Cooper

Anderson Cooper has been impersonated many times on Saturday Night Live, but he was particularly upset when Jon Rudnitsky assumed the role. The sketch featured Anderson hosting the 2015 Democratic presidential debate. According to the political commentator, it was as if Jon didn't care about Anderson.

"I am not easily offended but it wasn't something I thought was very good." Anderson stated that he didn't know much about me except that I was gay. Anderson spoke on "Watch What Happens Live."

4. Carole Baskin

Carole Baskin, the "Tiger King", star was not happy to be parodied in a sketch called "MasterClass Qarantine Edition." The skit featured Chloe pretending that Carole had created MasterClass episodes, showing bikers how to ride.

"I could just slap her!" The whole "My kitty", meow meow meow, kitty meow, meow. And then she would start saying these weird words in a row. This became very popular in popular culture, and people wanted me talking like that on the Cameos. I was like, "I don't know how to talk like that." Carole stated that this is not how she speaks on "The Pet Show with Dennis Quid and Jimmy Jellinek."

5 Fran Labowitz

Fran Lebowitz, a New York author, didn't see Bowen Yang perform her role on "SNL" early 2021. However, she did seem to have a change in heart a few months later. After watching the
Fran stated that she was not a fan of Bowen's "Weekend Update” segment.

Fran said to the LA Times, "If you have never had a caricature of yourself drawn of you, this might seem like a great thing [to parodie] -- but nobody likes them."

Bowen, on the other hand, said that he was glad to confirm that she had indeed seen the skit.

6. Meghan McCain

Meghan McCain has been impersonated several times on "SNL." She called it a "pop cultural honor" after parodying "The View" in one of her first skits. Meghan was not as happy with Aidy Bryant's portrayal of her when it happened again several years later.

"People loved it when SNL' dunked me on, and it wasn't flattering nor kind. They were also very nice to the rest ['View'] cast but not to me. I think I have a healthy sense of humor. It would be shocking to know what my mental illness has done to me. Meghan told Rolling Stone that she felt for a time like I was the laughing stock of the nation.

7. Kellyanne Conway

Kate McKinnon parodied Kellyanne Conway, a former White House Senior Counselor, many times during Donald Trump's presidency. However, she wasn't sure it was accurate. Kate could make her "a little happier" by making her look more like the character, she suggested. She tried to laugh it off, saying that Kate must have known she was the future in politics, and not Hillary Clinton.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Kate McKinnon clearly recognizes that the road to the future runs through [Hillary Clinton]," she said.

8. Sarah Palin

Tina Fey was instrumental in the creation of one of the most memorable "SNL" lines. She said "I can't see Russia from here" while playing Sarah Palin, then-governor. Sarah regrets how she was impersonated by Tina Fey on "SNL."

"I am aware that they painted me as an idiot and that I loathed it. Tina Fey would be my next target if I met her again today. I'd say, "You should at least pay for the braces of my children or some other expense from the money you earned by pretending to me!" She said it in "Live From New York"
