Weslie "tWitch Boss" Fowler, a 14-year old daughter of Stephen Boss makes her first appearance in public since his tragic death alongside Allison Holker's lookalike mother at the NAMI Westside Los Angeles Mental Health Gala 2020.
The National Alliance of Mental Illness Westside Los Angeles Gala 2020, held five months after Stephen "tWitch' Boss tragic death, was a beautiful event. His wife Allison Holker and daughter Weslie, 14, received The Heart of a Champion Award.
Allison expressed her gratitude for the award on Instagram. She wrote: "We are grateful and look forward to continuing our hearts and mind program with the Boys and Girls Club." "And thank-you to my beautiful girlfriends for their endless love and support."
She added, "I love you." "Forever." Weslie and Allison made their first public appearances since Allison lost her husband by suicide. Both women looked stunning in complementary black gowns.
Weslie joined her mother to accept the award on stage, while still holding the hand of her mother. She stood a few feet away from the dais and held her mother's hands. The award was given by Derek Hough, a judge on "Dancing with the Stars", and Jenna Dewan. Both are friends in the dance world.
She then thanked NAMI West LA for the award, "for our loved Stephen" and her family. She said: "We promise to always move forward with love and joy, to inspire, to lead, to teach, to grow."
Allison continued, before turning to Weslie and saying, "I'm so proud and love you."
In honor of tWitch, the organization announced it would partner with Move with Kindness Foundation in order to support mental-health initiatives. It will also dedicate its Hearts + Minds Program to the Boss Family.
On the website of the organization, it is described as "a dance and wellness program that will educate you and empower you in order to manage your health better -- both mentally and physically."
Holker said, "We are excited to partner with something that is already inspiring and teaching many children and adults about how to seek help for their mental health."
Holker has spoken out about her struggle in the wake of tWitch’s shocking suicide on December 20, 2022. She told People earlier this month that "no one knew he was depressed." He didn't wish for people to find out. "He just wanted to be everybody's Superman, protector."
She said, "It has been hard because I don't know what happened in that moment (when he died)", adding that in the months since her husband's passing she has been dealing with "complex" emotions.
"We are always told to reach out to those who have the most strength, and I agree with that." Holker, who is the founder of the Move with Kindess Foundation which aims to "carry on" his legacy, and "spread love and mental awareness," according to the website, also wants to convey that it's okay if you feel low or depressed to lean on others. Trust that even in the darkest of moments, people will still see you as a light.
Holker and Boss got married in 2013 before Boss adopted Holker's Weslie. They welcomed Maddix, Zaia and then Holker's daughter Weslie. Boss Holker celebrated the 9th anniversary of their marriage just days before Holker's death.
Holker, who met Boss for the first time on "So You Think You Can Dance," in 2012, revealed that she still hasn't mastered dancing.
"I haven’t danced yet." She said, "It's going to be a big leap for me, but I know I'll make it." He's leading me down this path."
