Student Who Allegedly Attacked School Employee Over Nintendo Switch to Be Charged as Adult

The victim spoke out about "misinformation" after the horrifying video went viral and how she has been healed in a GoFundMe update.

The Florida teenager, aged 17, who was accused of attacking a high school teacher will be tried as an adult. One felony charge of aggravated battery against an elected official or educator is being filed by the student.

FOX 35 Orlando reports that he is also being held on $1 million bond.

After Flagler County School Resource deputies received a report that a student had been attacked on campus, the teen was taken into custody at Matanzas High School in Palm Coast. Surveillance footage shows Joan Naydich moving through the halls before she turns around and is pushed to the ground by another student. This reportedly left her unconscious. As other employees try to restrain him, he appears to kick and punch Joan Naydich.

According to the sheriff's office the suspect is approximately 6'6" tall and around 270 pounds.

Warning: Disturbing video below.

Police arrested the student after he stated that he was upset by the victim taking his Nintendo Switch from him in class.

Sheriff Rick Staly stated that the actions of the student were "absolutely horrendous" and "completely uncalled for." "We hope that the victim can recover both mentally and physically from this incident. Students and staff helped the victim before the SRDs arrived. Schools should be safe for students and employees.

Staly supported the transfer of the case of the student to adult court by the Seventh Judicial Circuit of the State of Florida.

FOX 35's he said that the student was just six months away from turning 18. He also described a brutal attack on his teacher. "Thankfully, this did not result in a fatality. We could be talking about homicide.

Naydich was released from the hospital and shared an update via GoFundMe, which was set up by a friend of her family to help her "rest. heal. and spend time with her children without worrying about money."

"I was overwhelmed by the thought of the long battle ahead... Your contributions have lessened that burden and I am truly grateful!" said Naydich. "I hope that awareness of the incident will spread far and wide so that no one else has to deal with the trauma, physical healing, and disruptions in everyday life this has caused." Naydich added. It is touching to see that so many people care.

Joan, whose son is also a student at this school, said that "this certainly wasn't the way I saw my sons senior year turning out."

"To all keyboard warriors, I just wanted to correct the record. She also stated that she had never taken the Nintendo Switch from him. "I've heard or read different things, and I was told that this was misinformation."

The teenager suspect will return to court next week.
