Deryck wrote: "Although this pneumonia is not over yet, and I have been warned to expect a roller coaster of sickness in the coming weeks, I am staying positive and trying my best to make it through this."
Deryck Wibley is still recovering from pneumonia, which he contracted earlier in the month.
Deryck updated his fans via Instagram after being released from the hospital, where he had been receiving treatment.
The Canadian singer said that he was "still bedridden," as he battled the frightening sickness at home.
He said, "Even though I haven't completely recovered from this pneumonia, and I was warned to expect a roller-coaster of sickness in the coming weeks, I am staying positive and trying my best to make it through this."
Deryck said he has been experiencing a lot of chest pains, a difficult time breathing and some fever dreams. He joked that these fever dreams are keeping the whole situation "somewhat entertaining."
He added, "I am in the best of hands and I'm on the right medication," before saying that his goal was to be in top form for the When We Were Young festival in Las Vegas in a month.
The group is still working on a final album, Heaven and Hell. They also have a world tour to promote the album.
The "In Too Deep' singer concluded his post by saying, "That's what I want." "Thank you, so much love Deryck."
The health update came just days after Deryck’s wife, Ariana Whitbley revealed that Deryck had been discharged from hospital following a positive reaction to his pneumonia treatment.
The 32-year old model who shares son Lydon, 3 and daughter Quentin 6 months with the rocker, wrote: "I am very happy to give this update."
She continued, "Deryck has been discharged because he responded so well to treatment." He is now in the care of my mother, a registered nurse, and me. His heart and lungs are now less stressed and he can breathe more comfortably.
She added, "I cannot tell you how grateful we are to the community that surrounds us." We knew we would have support, but the love shown to our family was overwhelming. It has helped us to stay positive and has made us feel a lot better.
Ariana was the first to inform fans of Deryck’s pneumonia diagnosis in early October. She told them that they were supposed to celebrate their 8-year anniversary in Chicago, but Deryck ended up in the emergency room.
She wrote, "The scariest thing is that his heart is under a lot strain and they tell us that heart failure is possible." Then she detailed the singer's hospitalization in 2014 for alcoholism. This is not the first time we have been in this situation, but it does bring back some really painful memories to see him in a hospital with wires and an IV.
Ariana added, "I have seen what he's been able overcome but it doesn't make the situation any easier." I will do my best in keeping everyone informed, but we would really appreciate it if you kept him on your mind over the next couple of days.
Deryck, Ariana and their wedding in August 2015 have both been very open about their battles with mental and substance abuse.
Deryck, who collapsed in the kitchen a year before his wedding due to excessive alcohol consumption, spent a whole month in hospital being treated for kidney failure. He was put in a coma there to help detoxify his body.
Deryck told people that in 2021: "We decided to take our lives more seriously and to figure out this mess."
