She revealed the news after a triumphant comeback to Britain's Got Talent where she soared in a show-stopping rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream."
Susan Boyle returned to "Britain’s Got Talent" this week, the show that launched her career. She revealed that she had a stroke in secret last year.
She performed with the West End cast "Les Miserables" on this week's finale of BGT. She sang "I Dreamed a Dream," the song that catapulted her to stardom. Then, she performed "Do You hear the People Sing?" She sang "Do You Hear the People Sing?" with the entire ensemble.
Boyle spoke about her feelings after the performance, including how special it was to have returned to the show.
It feels great. She revealed that it was extra special because I had a stroke in April last year. "I have worked like a dog to get back on the stage, and I did it."
Simon Cowell called her return to the show "unbelievable", saying that it owed her "so many things."
"I knew that you were not well but I was sure you would come back. We wouldn't be as we are without you. "You are amazing," said he.
Boyle also took to Instagram after the episode was aired to talk about her battle with cancer and BGT comeback.
Tonight I had the pleasure of performing at @bgt with the amazing cast of @lesmizofficial. "This evening was especially special because I suffered a stroke in April 2022," she wrote. "I have been working so hard for the last year to get my singing and speech back. I only wanted to be able to perform on stage again. Tonight, my hard work and perseverance paid off as I sang the song that began it all: 'I Dreamed A Dream'."
Fans congratulated her on her recovery, and also praised her incredible voice.
Boyle competed in the third season of the show, finishing second. He went on to enjoy a successful career even though he didn't win the entire thing.
