Sometimes choices made in your youth can have a lasting impact on your life. Teddi Mellencamp hopes to spread this message while sharing her Stage 2 melanoma diagnosis.

On Tuesday, the "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum posted a photo of a bandage to her shoulder on Instagram. According to the reality star, doctors discovered "another abnormal spot" and performed a biopsy.

She wrote, "I received the call this morning: Stage 2 Melanoma." "Now, I'm going to see an oncologist next Wednesday to get it removed and to come up with a plan for the next steps."

Additional tests and biopsies are being performed, but Teddi stated that this moment is a "wakeup" for many reasons. She urged people to adhere to doctor's orders regarding follow-up appointments.

"What is the likelihood of what could happen in three months?" She wrote that she was pondering this question, and that she was tempted to skip the latest appointment. She wrote, "Apparently a lot."

Teddi says that all of this is due to choices she made as a young woman. "I remember as a teen in the 90s, I used baby oil and iodine to tan my skin. She wrote that she had never worn sunscreen and hadn't had her moles checked. This has been a great wake-up call for me.

She stated that she hopes it will serve as a wake-up call for her followers to also "love, protect, and respect the skin you are in."

After Kyle Richards brought her to the doctor about her back color, Teddi took care of her skin in March. Teddi shared on Instagram that her doctor believed it was melanoma and performed a large removal. Teddi stated that anxiety was keeping her away.

Teddi received some support from Tamra Judge (Real Housewives of Orange Country) in the comments to her most recent post. She said that she's been there and it wasn't fun. She expressed her regret for Teddi's situation, but said she was happy to bring awareness and added, "You got this !!!!!"."
