"They do the job quickly. I wouldn't use anyone else!

Texas businessman is accused of hiring hitmen after blackmailing his girlfriend and mistress.

Erik Charles Maund was arrested Monday along with three other suspects in the murder of Holly Williams (33), and William Lanway (36), whose bodies were found shot to death in a car crash in Nashville nearly 21 months ago.

Prosecutors claim that all four were part of an elaborate murder-for hire scheme. This included an affair, attempted extortion and kidnapping. There was also an apparently positive online review.

On March 12, 2020, a construction worker found a white Acura sedan in a crash site off Old Hickory Boulevard. The car had veered off the road and had traveled down an embankment before hitting a tree. Both airbags were deployed.

Both of the occupants were shot to death. Investigators concluded that they were an estranged married couple who had been involved with a variety of domestic violence incidents. Lanway was arrested for aggravated assault, false imprisonment and attacking Williams eight days prior; Williams had also been issued an order of protection after he had been arrested for punching Williams in December.

The double homicide case remained unsolved for almost two years. But, on Monday, a federal prosecution was released. It claimed that the ex-couple were killed by SpearTip members, a security firm based in Austin, Texas. Maund hired SpearTip after they threatened to expose their affair.

According to the indictment, Maund was a partner in Austin’s Maund Automotive Group, and grandson to founder Charles Maund. He would sometimes travel to Nashville to visit relatives. He contacted Holly Williams in February 2020 to ask her to meet him when he visited Nashville on February 5-7.

Maund, who was married, started receiving text messages from William Lanway on March 1. He also had a romantic relationship with Williams. Lanway demanded payment and threatened Maund with exposing Williams' relationship.

According to the indictment Maund then enlisted Gilad Peled (47-year-old owner SpearTip Security) as his agent. Peled claimed to have been a former member the Israeli Defense Forces as well as being a former Marine, Bryon Brockway (46), from Austin and Adam Carey (30), from Richlands, North Carolina ( right).

Investigators say that Maund drew $15,000 from his bank on March 5th -- the same day an intelligence report was prepared and presented to Peled by Brockway's relative, who worked at a cyber security company.

According to the indictment, Carey flew in and out from Nashville to monitor Williams and Lanway. She also obtained details about Williams' car and confirmed that they lived together. Peled was assured that the team would use all its resources to stop the attempted extortion against Maund.

According to the indictment, Maund wire transferred $150,000 from his bank account to Peled's bank account on March 12. According to the indictment, Brockway, Carey and armed with guns, confronted Williams in West Nashville's parking lot and shot Lanway multiple times.

According to this report, they kidnapped Williams then drove Lanway and Lanway's bodies to the construction site. There, they killed Williams and shot her multiple times.

The bodies were then left at the construction site. Within hours of the murders, their Pinger account, which they had created to communicate, was deleted and a Brockway rented car was returned, according to the indictment.

Carey drove Brockway from Memphis to Memphis, and Brockway took a flight to Austin. Carey drove from Memphis to Austin.

According to the indictment, Maund allegedly transferred $750,000 via wire from his bank account to an account managed by Peled as payment to the three for the kidnapping, murders, and kidnapping of Williams and Lanway.

Metropolitan Nashville PD detectives and FBI Agents arrested all four suspects across multiple states on Friday. Maund was detained after a traffic stop in Austin, Texas. Peled was detained at Austin's airport. Brockway was taken into custody in San Diego, California. Carey was detained at his North Carolina home.

The four were charged with conspiring to kidnap, kidnapping that results in death, carrying, brandishing and discharging firearms during or in relation to a crime.

A bizarre twist was added to the case just before it goes to trial. On December 7, three days prior to the arrests, Erik Maund, a Google user, wrote a glowing review about SpearTip Security Group.

He wrote that Speartip was very professional and always on top of things. They get the job done quickly. I wouldn't use anyone else!

The owner replied, "Thanks for your kind words." It was always a pleasure to work with you.
