A North Texas couple became parents to twin girls... born in opposite years!

According to KDFW, Kali Jo Scott, her husband Cliff Scott, welcomed twins Annie Jo and Effie rose at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton last Wednesday. The first baby was born December 31, 2022 and the second on January 1, 2023.

Kali shared with KDFW that she went to the hospital on New Year's Eve. This was approximately two weeks before her due date. She was then taken into labor via C-section.

She recalled that they had joked about it, "wouldn't it make sense if ...' had the holiday and New Years Eve over the weekend, if each of them had their own birthday?" "It turned to be more possible than we thought."

Annie Jo was born on December 31 at 11:55pm. Effie Rose arrived on January 1 at 12:01 AM. The baby girls' arrivals marked the hospital's first 2022 birth and the last 2022 birth. Both babies were 5.5 pounds in weight at birth.

Cliff and Kali shared their reactions. Cliff said that Kali finds it hilarious and "just super fun". Cliff said, "It happened so quickly we haven’t processed all of that yet."

They loved that their fraternal twin daughters, who are birthdays andbirth years, were celebrated with them.

"You want them to have their own personality and feel special. This gives them that unique and special quality that other twins might not have. "One will always have the New Year's Eve glitter and confetti and one will kick it off on New Year's Day with a brand new year."

Kali laughed after the KDFW reporter joked about how sports are often determined by a child's birthyear. She then shared another possible, but not so serious, problem.

She said that her friends made fun of us because we got only one tax deduction last year. But, she added that it was fine.

Kali shared adorable photos of Cliff and Kali's twin girls' birth on Facebook on New Year's Day.

"Cliff & I are so proud of Annie Jo and Effie Rosa Scott!" She wrote beside the photos. "Annie was born at 11:55 p.m. in 2022. Effie was born at 12:01 in 2023. Both babies were healthy, happy, and weighed 5.5 pounds. Cliff and I are so excited to embark on this adventure together!"
