The Controversial Eyebrow Trend is Back

If you thought Y2K meant only low-rise jeans, baby tees and baby shirts, then I have bad news. Gen Z is reviving another cringey trend: the thin brow.

Were we not done with our over-plucked eyebrows in 2000? It's no longer fashionable, but I just learned how to make a Cara Delevingne eyebrow. !
Fashion whiplash is real. There is an thin, arched silver lining that will help all this. Gen Z may be bringing back the thin eyebrows, but they have at least learned from our mistakes.

Gen Z is Living The Dream Of The 1990s

Joey Healy, celebrity brow expert, told InStyle that Gen Z's love for all-things 90s began on TikTok. We're seeing it in clothing and makeup that have a Y2K aesthetic. This obsession seems to be leading the way in brows.

Gen Zers have brought back skorts, low-rise jeans and skorts from the grave. They also reimagined whale tails to create equally confusing pelvic cutouts.

Crimping is back in fashion. Kendall Jenner, Addison Rae and other celebs have all worn the tight, wavy hairstyle. It's only natural that makeup should be next.

Bella Hadid, fashion model and influencer. The 25-year old has been sporting a shaved-edged brow that would make Gwen Stefani proud. (Officially, this is Stefani circa 1996--Hadid's birthday year.

Three years ago, Rihanna wore brows that looked straight out of 1920 for the cover of British Vogue. Rihanna can do anything, so the question is: What makes this thin eyebrow trend worth following?

Laminated, sculpted, and sleek

Rene de la Garza, another expert on brows, assured InStyle that it won't be the same brow as the one we cringe at in the 1990s. It's sleeker, more sculpted and includes row lamination.

InStyle spoke to Jared Bailey, Benefit Cosmetics. "You can still expect a little bit of density throughout." "Gone are those days when thinning your brows was a way to make them look sparse and almost invisible.

The trend isn’t controversial simply because it’s popular. Many people remember the negative side effects of Y2K fashion trends.

It was prioritizing thin bodies with low-rise jeans. It's causing irreparable damage to our eyebrows. Furthermore, eyebrows don't grow back as fast as they used to. This trend requires a commitment of time.

Experts recommend concealer as a temporary blank canvas for trying out thin eyebrows. For a more natural look, you can trim the eyebrows, but not pluck them.

A good highlighter under your brow arch can lift your brows without having to remove hairs. If in doubt, consult a professional.

What about me? Thank you, I will continue to wear my high-waisted jeans with feathered eyebrows.
