Royal fans are left with more questions as more details about Queen Elizabeth's death become available. For example, why was the queen's date of death included on her death certificate but not Prince Philip's?

Why Queen Elizabeth's Death Certificate Includes a Time Of Death

The death certificate of the queen was made public earlier this week. It revealed that the monarch died from old age. A small detail was also included, which some royal fans noticed was absent from other members' certificates.

What is this detail? The time at which Queen Elizabeth died. According to the certificate, Queen Elizabeth died on September 8th at 3:10pm. The time at which she died was three hours before the death announcement was made to the public on September 8th, at 6:30 PM.

Although it may seem like a common detail to include on a death certificate, the time of death is not usually included on death certificates of royal family members. A time of death is not included on death certificates for Prince Philip and the Queen Mother who died in 2002.

Why was Queen Elizabeth's death time recorded? Balmoral, her beloved country estate in Scotland, was where the queen died. All deaths must be recorded within seven days of the death, according to the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages Act (Scotland), 1965. A time of death must be included in the death registration process in Scotland.

Both Prince Philip and Queen Mother died in England. This is due to the Registration Act 1836. Members of the royal family are not covered by this act. A further detail on Queen Elizabeth's death record is that Princess Anne, her daughter, signed the document.

The Queen's Death is earlier this month

September 19th was Queen Elizabeth's last day of life. Before her casket was moved to Windsor Castle, members of the royal family, world leaders and friends of Queen Elizabeth attended the services at Westminster Abbey.

There, Queen Elizabeth was buried alongside Prince Philip, Prince George VI, her parents, King George VI, the Queen Mother and her sister Princess Margaret. The loss of Queen Elizabeth has been felt all over the world. Many people have found comfort in the release of her death certificate, which confirms that she died from old age.
