Dwayne Johnson shared a video with his daughters, confirming that he will be returning as Maui.

"Moana," the animated movie, is returning to the big screen in live action!

Disney officially announced Monday that a live action "reimagining” of 2016's animated film is in the works. Producers include Dwayne Johnson and Auli’i Cravalho.

A studio release stated that the film, "Like its animated predecessor," will be about the Pacific Islanders' islands, communities, and traditions as seen through the eyes a young woman who is determined to forge her own path. "Moana's journey to self-discovery, reflection and friendship with Maui, an exiled demigod, won hearts around the world.

Johnson shared a video of him with his daughters Tia, Jasmine and Maui on Oahu's beaches.

"Aloha everybody from beautiful Hawaii. He shared that we are on Oahu where I spent a lot my growing up. As you all know, Hawaii is very important to me and my family. The traditions of our ohana or aiga, as we call them in Samoa were shaped by these amazing islands.

Johnson stated that the movie will feature Maui and the title character as well as Gramma Tala and Pua the Pig and Te Fiti, along with the songs and dances from the animated flick. Johnson said he was honored to reprise his role as Maui, since the character was created by Peter Maivia, High Chief.

"As you can see, this is a very deep story for me. He said that Maui will be brought to life in a similar way as his grandfather. "So, it's still early in the process, there is so much more to do.

The clip was ended by him having his children fetch the massive Manaiakalani of his character.

Although it is not clear if Cravalho will return to the screen, she stated in a statement that Cravalho "has had such an impact on how Disney princesses are viewed." She said, "Moana’s strength and perseverance are inspirational--to audiences all over the world, as well as to me and everyone else who brought her to life." I look forward to telling her story in a new way.

The original film was released November 2016 and generated nearly $644 million worldwide box office.
