He is best-known for his hits such as Thor and the Oscar-winning movie Jojo Rabbit. However,New Zealand native Taika WAITITI has a low profile in his personal life.

After being linked with pop star Rita Ora, the filmmaker's love life has started to attract serious media attention. Many questions were also raised about his ex-wife Chelsea Winstanley.

We delved in to examine his marriage history and his relationship with Rita Ora, his soon-to be second wife.

Taika Waititi was previously married to Chelsea Winstanley

Waititi was married to Chelsea Winstanley, an award-winning film producer in 2011. The couple, a native New Zealander, have two daughters together: Te Hinekaahu was born in 2012 and Matewa Kiritpu was born in 2015.

The filmmakers split in 2018 according to reports. However, they managed to keep the news secret until March 2020. Many questions began to swirl when the couple began walking alone on red carpets.

Both Winstanley and Waititi have not revealed the reason for their split. No official press releases were issued.

Taika Waititi and Rita Ora began dating in 2021

Romain Guavas was Ora's ex-fiancée back in March 2021. Romain confirmed that the couple had ended their relationship due to scheduling conflicts. Ora shared a series on Instagram photos the following month that featured Ora hugging a (blurry looking) man who looked very similar to Waititi.

The pair were also seen together deplaning a private plane and attending the premiere RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under in April 2021. In May, they were photographed walking around Sydney looking very much like a couple.

Rumours of them ran rampant in June when they made headlines for their "three way kiss" with Thoactress Tessa Thompson. The trio smooched on a Sydney balcony, causing a lot of attention from the paparazzi. Although Thompson seemed to be having fun with her friends, much was made about the apparent throuple.

Waititi was interviewed by the Sydney Morning Herald in June about the incident. He also asked if Ora's media attention had upset him. He said, "Not really." I think everything disappears pretty quickly in the internet world. It's not that important. It was fine. It's fine."

They made their official pairing media official in August when they walked together on the red carpet at the premiere of The Suicide Squad in Los Angeles. They made their Insta debut a few weeks later when Waititi posted a series photos of them together on Waititi's birthday.

Their low-key engagement

Waititi and Ora were engaged after a little more than a year of being together. According to the Sun the couple nearly "simultaneously” proposed to each other. They are currently planning an intimate ceremony with close family members and will have a larger celebration down the road.

This is not about them making a big show of it and then gloating about it. A friend explained to the publication that it's about them falling in love and deciding to formalize their relationship. They couldn't be happier."
