Rumblings of the Emmy-winner's death first surfaced in a 2021 Facebook post promoting an article on the website Conservativetears.com. The headline read "Danny DeVito: Beloved Actor and Avid Trump Supporter, Dies at 74." It went on to say that the Throw Momma from the Train star had died after suffering an undisclosed illness.

You only need to go to the next paragraph to realize that this article is not legit. It reads, "A spokesperson for the cats stated that they were happy that Mr. DeVito had informed the building manager that he believed that he was dying. Paramedics were able to remove his body before the family became hungry."

The post then turns out to be pure clickbait.

Although it is obvious that this report is a joke when you actually read the post, it is not so easy to see on Facebook. People didn't click through to the article but instead read the headline and assumed it was fact. Over 100 people left condolences and comments on the post. It's so sad! He was my hero! Danny, thank you so much for all the great movies! "May you rest in peace Sir!"

Is Danny DeVito Dead?

For his family, friends, and fans, Danny DeVito remains very much alive. He is currently starring on the 15th season It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. He is also busy with the upcoming movie Haunted House. Rosario Dawson and Owen Wilson are his co-stars.

The 77-year old actor was almost killed while filming an episode on Always Sunny in 2016. Charlie Day, DeVito's co-star, said that DeVito almost drowned while filming an underwater scene with the rest. Day said that Danny was buoyant and resembles a buoy. It was difficult to get him down so we had to weigh him down in order to get the shot where all of us are holding hands. After the shot was done, and as we tried to return to the surface, we all got through the water quickly. But, because we weighed him down he was only halfway there and wasn't going anywhere. That look of panic in his eyes was like "This is it, these guys killed my." '"

DeVito was able to survive and was not too upset by the near-miss. Extra interviewed DeVito and he stated that it was a positive experience. "I have lived a happy life, and it flashed in front of my eyes in that scene."
