The 2022 Oscar Awards will focus on power couple Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Kirsten Dunst, and Jesse Plemons.

The Oscar nominations were made Tuesday, February 8th by the celebrity couple for their performances across all four acting categories.

Kyle Buchanan, a reporter and columnist for The New York Times' award season column, tweeted that it was "The First Time We've Had Two Couples Nominated in the Same Year Covering All 4 Acting Categories."

Cruz was nominated for Best Actress in "Parallel Mothers", while Bardem received the Best Actor nomination in "Being the Ricardos." They were married in 2010 and have two children.

Dunst/Plemons & Cruz/Bardem... This is the first year we have had 2 couples nominated for the same award, covering all 4 categories of acting!

Plemons and Dunst were nominated for their roles in Jane Campion’s film "The Power of the Dog", where each actor was nominated respectively for Best Supporting Actress or Actor. After appearing on "Fargo", in 2016, the couple became acquainted. A year later, they were engaged and have two children.

Variety spoke with Kirsten about how it felt to hear that Plemons and she were nominated together. "So Eric Kranzler called me. My kids are watching cartoons, and Jesse is working. I am watching my feed on my phone. He had to get to work very early today. Eric called me and said that I had been nominated. I am now crying with my children.

"They are like, 'Why is mom crying?' Eric calls me back and I am in the throes talking to my mom or whatever. He said, "Jesse just ...' and I began screaming. Then I hung up. Megan, my publicist, called me. I was trying to hear her and just screamed at Megan. Jesse called me, and I was the one who told him. He was quite shocked.

"It's crazy to be a couple, and get our first nominations together. It's almost like reading a book. Do you see what I'm referring to? It's just so strange. It's incredible," Kristen exclaimed.

Entertainment Tonight spoke to Penelope Cruz about Javier and Penelope, who are frequent collaborators. She said that she was looking forward working with her husband on a new project, provided it is something they haven't done before.

"A musical is the first thing that comes to my mind. Everyone was so enthusiastic when I mentioned that we had to do a musical together. She said that everyone, all fans of Pedro Almodovar, wants to see a musical.
