The Hollywood Reporter reported that "Lip Sync Battle" is the movie for which the star of "Spider-Man: No Way Home", received the most praise.
Tom Hollandrevisits his "Lip Sync Battleperformance.
In an extensive interview with The Hollywood Reporter the actor reflected upon his famous appearance in the Paramount Network show, in which performed a lip-sync and dance routine to Gene Kelly's mashup "Singin' in the Rain" and, more importantly, Rihanna's umbrella.
Holland says that even though he competed in the "Lip-Sync" competition during his 2017 press tour for his "Spider-Man movie, fans stillrecognize him from that performance more than any other project.
Fans who have watched the "Lip-Sync Battle" performance a thousand or more times will remember that the "Spider-Man: No Way Home' star wore a corset in black, fishnets and a wig to perform "Umbrella". The 27-year-old performed a hilarious dance routine while holding an umbrella, despite the rain.
"I am proud of it. Holland told THR, "I like that it has left a lasting impression." It was an incredible time. It was a time of great change. The release of 'Spider-Man" was imminent. I was on a roll. It was crazy. I had never turned down an offer before. I was going to L.A. alone, meeting directors and producers. Finally, I was at the point where I could ask my friends if they wanted to come along. They'd reply, "Yes."
He replied "No" when asked if his costume was a "statement about toxic masculinity". "Mm-mm", he replied, before revealing that he had no hesitation in dressing up more femininely for the performance.
"I'm not interested ---. I grew up in a non-toxic, masculine environment. Holland said, "I didn't know what I was doing would be so innovative. I was like, "Yeah f---it, I'll wear some fishnets and dance in rain." It'll be great fun. I don't care.'"
You can't expect to see the star of "The Crowded Room", who starred in this movie, do anything like that ever again.
"You wouldn't catch me doing that anymore," he said. "Just because I do not want to do an f---ing television show that I do not need to do. I'd rather play golf and have a little private life."
Holland continued, "It's an interesting story." Because I have worked really hard and been very calculated when deciding what I do and how I do it. "Of all the films that I am incredibly proud to have made, the Lip Sync Battle is the one I receive the most compliments about."
Holland has also spoken about his future as "Spider-Man." Holland has admitted that he is "a little apprehensive about another film."
The "Avengers: Endgame' star revealed that he had already attended a number of meetings to discuss a fourth film before the writers' strike began.
Holland said to THR that "it was me, Amy, [Marvel Studios President] Kevin Feige and [executive director] Rachel [O'Connor, sometimes other Marvel executives will sit in." It's a collaboration process. In the first few meetings, we asked ourselves: "Why would you do it again?" We found it. "I'm really, truly happy with the creative direction we're taking."
"But I am also apprehensive," he said. There's a little stigma attached to the fourth franchise. I feel we hit a "home run" with our first franchise, and there's part of me who wants to leave with my head high and hand the baton over to the next lucky child that gets to bring the character to life.
Holland was also asked in another interview about his relationship to his "Spider-Man' co-star Zendaya. It's not known when they started dating, but the couple has been a source of romance rumors since 2017.
Holland, who is 26 and Zendaya, 26 are both slightly more open than they were in the past about their relationship, but the former has told THR how important their privacy is to them.
We are very protective of our relationship and want to protect it as much as we can. It's not something we feel we owe anyone. It's just our thing and has nothing to do our careers.
