The "Vanderpump Rules actor agreed to join Fox's competition show "Stars on Mars", because, according to Rolling Stone he "wanted an escape" from the chaos and stress of Scandoval.

Schwartz said, "I know that you should be careful about escapism, but I had a lot going on, my life was a little chaotic and I agreed to do it after I heard a gentle pitch.

Scandoval was a major factor in the death of Schwartz, as Tom Sandoval had been his friend for ten years, and he also shared two restaurants with him. Sandoval, a long-time girlfriend of Ariana madix, was caught cheating with Raquel Leviss , her friend and co-star. Schwartz knew more than what he revealed, and that includes Ariana.

The scandal exploded bigger than any other reality show scandal, dominating the mainstream media and making household names of several members of Lisa Vanderpump’s “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” spinoff.

Schwartz was able to escape the attention and enjoy a relaxing getaway in Australia's middle of nowhere.

He said, "I have been trying to break out of the little bubble I was in." "We all face problems, and in the past year and a half to two years I had many of them at once. When it rains, it pours. It was a lovely little break."

The Scandoval was not all that Schwartz experienced in Season 10. It also included his divorce from his co-star Katie Maloney and his struggles with business at Sandoval's Schwartz & Sandys.

Schwartz says that the distance, and the fact that a reality show based on competitions is so different from what he was used to, helped him get a new perspective on his career and life back home.

I was able step outside my little bubble, and say, "You know what?" "I'm so thankful," he said. "I am so fortunate for the opportunities that I have been given, and all of what I have experienced in my life."

After months of being so closely associated with Sandoval, and the scandal surrounding his cheating, he also enjoyed that he could be himself. Three weeks of being away from it all was "bliss."

Schwartz said that he would not have used his phone at all if he hadn't been a businessman and because "my mother would have killed" him.

After so many months of being heavy, Schwartz would find that the whole experience was life-changing. He said, "I felt lighter when I returned here." "My worries for the day suddenly didn't seem as worrying."

He felt "recalibrated," like he had reset his body, mind and soul. He said, "I felt like myself again."

Schwartz, who returned to the show in September and is now preparing for Season 11 of "Vanderpump Rules," which will begin filming in a couple weeks, has focused his energy and time on Schwartz & Sandy’s. Schwartz reiterated his comments to Brittany Cartwright in her podcast "When Reality Hits".

He said: "It's obvious that I didn't have to repeat this to Tom [Sandoval], I just took a break and am focusing on me. I'm also looking forward to the next chapter of my life."

He continued, "I'm not proud of how I handled adversity over the last year and a quarter." "I feel like I floundered for a while. I am better prepared to deal with life now after my trip to Australia and a short sabbatical.

If you have the resources, he encourages everyone to find a way to "take a break" from what they're experiencing to gain some emotional, spiritual, and physical distance. You can then return to your life "more optimistic and confident" like him.

It's impossible to predict what Schwartz will do next.
