Disney and Marvel are the top two domestic box offices when it comes to the opening day of the movie. In the last decade, Disney and Marvel have had many massive release days that brought in millions in only 24 hours. Box office records are made when die-hard fans wait in line to be among the first to watch the latest films. These films have had record-breaking first days, from Avengers up to Star Wars.

While Barbie broke new records in its opening weekend, the $70.5 million it earned on its first day was not enough to make the top 10.

It grossed $859 million after 36 weeks of showings in cinemas all over the world.

Avengers: Age of Ultron made a huge impact on the domestic box office when it opened in 4 276 theaters in 2015. It made over $84,000,000 in its first day alone in the US and over $100,000,000 more at the end of the opening weekend. It grossed more than $1.4 billion after 35 weeks of showings in cinemas all over the world.

It was not only the highest grossing movie on its opening day, when it earned $157 million in the United States, but it also became the highest-grossing movie in history. After 35 weeks of being in theaters, the film had grossed $2.79 billion worldwide.
