They insist that they have all been found.

This would have been a movie about a pandemic in the '90s. The lab monkey truck accident occurred at the beginning.

This is real life, and it happened in Pennsylvania this weekend.

On Friday, a truck carrying 100 macaque monkeys was headed to a CDC laboratory. It collided on Interstate 80 in Montour County, spilling dozens upon the highway... along with its live cargo.

Some of the animals ran away, prompting state troopers to send game wardens and game wardens into an armed hunt to recover them.

To locate the animals, firefighters used thermal imaging. A helicopter was summoned to help.

Trooper Lauren Lesher tweeted that "a small number of monkeys might have fled the crash site into the surrounding area." "If you see one, please keep it away from the public and dial 911 immediately. Our top priority is safety and health of residents and visitors.

AP was told by the officer that the concern was due to the animal not being domesticated and because they were in unknown territory. It is difficult to predict how they would respond to being approached by humans.

All but one of the escapees were located by Saturday morning. The CDC didn't say why, but he was "humanely euthanized" with his fellow prison-breakers.

She tweeted, "There is still one monkey missing. But we ask that you not attempt to capture it." Anyone who spots the monkey should not approach it, try to catch or come into contact with it. Please dial 911 immediately

Later that day, Troopers confirmed that the Troopers had located the last fugitive. They tweeted, "Crash Update: All monkeys are accounted for."

There was confusion about how many were missing. Troopers claimed that four people had escaped. However, the police crash report stated that only three of them had. Authorities insist that all were found safe and sound.

According to AP the monkeys were on their way to a quarantine facility approved by CDC, having arrived from Mauritius earlier in the morning.

It is not known how many monkeys were killed in the initial crash.
