Video Shows Alleged Escape Attempt of Woman Accused of Murdering Pro Cyclist

Kaitlin "Mo" Wilson, who was arrested in Costa Rica on suspicion of murdering Anna Moriah Armstrong, made another escape attempt while being escorted by her guard to a medical appointment.

Authorities claim that Kaitlin "Mo" Wilson attempted to escape from captivity in Texas this week.

In a cell phone video taken by KXAN, Armstrong appears to be running away from the officer who has tripped during the chase. The brief video stops when Armstrong tries to climb a fence.

According to the Sheriff's Office, she attempted to escape while officers were accompanying her to a doctors appointment on Wednesday. Armstrong is said to have made a dash for it when she was taken back to the patrol car after her appointment.

According to Travis County Sheriff spokeswoman Kristen Dark, (via AP), Armstrong ran for about one block in a neighborhood nearby but never left the deputies' view.

Dark said that she was captured after a 10 minute chase, but no further details were given. Armstrong and two officers were taken to hospital for an examination before being returned to jail.

According to KXAN inmate records, Armstrong will be charged with escape causing bodily harm. The sheriff's department confirmed that one of its deputies had been injured during the chase.

Armstrong, who was arrested in Costa Rica in early June, pleaded not guilty in July 2022 to charges of first-degree murder stemming the death Anna Moriah “Mo” Wilson.

Wilson was staying with a friend in the city, after travelling from San Francisco to attend a local race. She was found unconscious and swollen in her home on 11 May. On May 11, Wilson was declared dead at the scene. She had traveled from San Francisco for a local race and was staying with a friend's home in the city.

Armstrong was briefly held by the police after Wilson's death had been ruled as a homicide. She was then released because of an invalid warrant. She reportedly sold her Jeep Grand Cherokee the next day for $12,200 before taking a flight back to the East Coast. According to the US Marshals she used a fake passport to board another flight from Newark, to San Jose in Costa Rica, on May 18, the day after Austin PD had issued a homicide arrest warrant.

She was arrested on June 29 at a hostel located in Santa Teresa Beach, Provincia de Puntarenas.

After it was revealed that Wilson briefly dated Armstrong’s 35-year old professional cyclist Colin Strickland while they were on vacation, the case was called a “love triangle”.

According to the Austin American Statesman, he claimed that after his fling with Armstrong, he reconnected with him and that their relationship became platonic. According to the arrest affidavit he claimed that he went swimming with Wilson and had dinner the night before her murder, and then hid this from Armstrong. He told authorities that Armstrong had blocked Wilson's phone number and that he had deleted all texts from Wilson.

Wilson's family released a later statement in which they said that it was important to "clarify that, at the time of Wilson's death, those closest understood directly from Moriah that she was not involved with anyone romantically."
