Officers conducted a "high-risk stop" on him, and he was later charged with the theft of a truck. He then appeared to grab his skateboard and run away.

Los Angeles police say that a man tried to evade officers by riding a skateboard during a pursuit at high speed.

The whole thing happened in the early hours of February 13th when LAPD officers responded at 9-1-1 to a call about a stolen vehicle. The authorities arrived on the scene and found a truck that matched the description of the stolen vehicle. They began to follow the truck.

The vehicle began to accelerate down narrow streets as they followed it, before hitting a parked car. The entire chase was captured on dashboard and body cameras. Video was shared by the LAPD to YouTube ( beneath).

The driver, later identified as Pedro Villalobos, lost control of his truck and attempted to turn left. Police surrounded the vehicle with guns drawn and Villalobos escaped the vehicle. He appeared to have thrown a skateboard onto the ground and took off for authorities.

He was pursued by a few officers on foot while others responded in patrol cars. A cruiser-sized officer stopped Villalobos as he attempted to speed past, and pulled him behind them. Villalobos was hit by the contact's skateboard and fell to the ground.

According to the LAPD, he received treatment for a fractured foot and was taken into custody. The incident resulted in no injuries to anyone else. Later, he was booked for vehicle theft as well as reckless evading. Fox 11 reports that detectives from Force Investigation Division are investigating the incident as a law enforcement-related injury.

In the meantime, the vehicle was returned to its original owner.
