Liberty Mutual, an insurance company, launched a new advertising campaign in 2019. According to a press release, the commercials featured LiMu Emu (a fictional dynamic duo) and Doug (a "fictional dynamic couple who are passionate about saving people overpaying for one size-fits all insurance." David Hoffman: Wherever You've Been Before

These ads are inspired by 70s buddy cop programs, and feature retro cars and props along with Doug's 70s-inspired outfit and mustache. Although the costume may hide his identity but TV viewers will recognize him through his extensive credits, they are sure to recognize him.

David Hoffman, an actor, has appeared in numerous commercials and television shows. He studied classical acting at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts as well as Boston University.

After graduating from college, Hoffman moved to Los Angeles to train with the famed comedy troupe The Groundlings. Hoffman was invited to join the Sunday Company and the Main Company in 2006. Hoffman began appearing in commercials around the same time. He was hired by V8, Bud Light, Doritos and Slim Jims.

Hoffman was also a guest star on TV shows such as 2 Broke Girls and Modern Family. He was the lead on the UK sitcom I Live with Models in 2014. He was also featured in the blockbuster movie Bridesmaids.

He created the character's signature look

His Liberty Mutual ads role as Doug might have been his most well-known, making him a familiar face in the advertising world. But maybe not in real life. Hoffman spoke to the New York Post and said that Doug was his first street-recognized face. Hoffman looks as if he's a character that I have never played before.

Hoffman was actually responsible for Doug's unique look. Hoffman stated that Hoffman was the one who created Doug's distinctive look after receiving a brief description of the ad campaign from the insurance company. "There wasn't a physical description of [Doug]. "The role didn't require a mustache. I decided that he should have one."

Hoffman Dishes On His Emu Co-Star

Hoffman revealed that the ads feature three emus and was asked to reveal his animal star. Hoffman said that there are two types of emus: one who is a specialist in standing still and one who runs. We kind of swap them out. They were more used on the first shoot. However, 90 percent of the times I am alone looking at tape [subbing to Limu]. After the shoot, they bring out the emus and do an incredible job in post-production using CGI.

Hoffman said, "They are large and when their necks are raised all the way they look taller than me -- almost like a dinosaur with talons." They can be intimidating but they are gentle with me. One of the boys jumped on top of a desk and made a run for it. However, I am fine with wild animals. I have worked with children who are more challenging.
