TLC's DC Cupcakes featured sisters Sophie LaMontagne, and Katherine Kallinis Berman more than a decade ago in 2010. Viewers quickly fell in love the sweet and smart cookie pair. Their reality show, Georgetown Cupcakes, was ended in 2013. Since then, fans have been curious about what the sisters have done. Sophie LaMontagne, along with her sister Katherine Kallinis Berman, took a huge risk in leaving behind their successful careers in finance and fashion to open their bakery. But it was a great risk. Their bakery is now thriving, in large part due to the success of their TLC reality series DC Cupcakes. Georgetown Cupcakes opened multiple locations in the United States, including Atlanta, Los Angeles and New York City.
Although that is a great accomplishment, the sisters did not stop there. Katherine and Sophie are also the best-selling authors of Cupcake Diaries, and Sweet celebrations. These professional achievements are certainly admirable, but they are not the only positive change in Sophie and Katherine’s lives.
Sisters Lose a Whopping 100 Pounds Together
Katherine and Ben Berman welcomed their first child together in the third episode. The happy couple named her Isis Sidney Berman. Katherine started her journey to lose baby weight after the birth of her first child. Her sister Sophie was also along for the ride, having gained weight during Katherine’s pregnancy.
The sisters lost a combined total of 100 pounds. They credited their success to each other's support. Katherine said that they didn't do anything drastic. "We followed a slow, natural approach and it worked," Katherine said to em>People . Sophie also stated that they didn't do a "diet" but relied on moderation in order to lose weight.
They continued to eat their favourite foods, but they kept their portions small. Katherine and Sophie also took daily six-mile walks together, which resulted in Katherine losing 60 pounds and Sophie losing 40. The sisters lost all their weight while working at their bakery, surrounded by sweet treats. Katherine said that cupcakes are small portions. "Some days, we have more than one cupcake, and if that is the case, we can usually have multiple flavors per day."
A Growing Family
Sophie had her first baby years after losing her sympathy weight when sister Katherine gave birth to her second child. On February 12, 2021, she welcomed Philip Veillion LaMontagne. He was a happy product of the pandemic.

The sisters also reached another personal milestone in 2019. This was the year Katherine, a Canadian citizen, was sworn into citizenship. As a gesture of goodwill, Katherine gave out patriotic-colored cupcakes to her new neighbors.
She shared with Newsweek that "Being sworn-in as an American citizen was such powerful and moving experience" and added, "I was so happy I could share this special moment, and I wanted to celebrate by bringing cupcakes for everyone!" We couldn't be happier to hear that Katherine and Sophie are enjoying a great life!
