Cates's role as Paradise made her a star, but it was her second role that cemented her fame. In the 1982 comedy Fast Time at Ridgemont High, she played Linda Barrett, a sophisticated and sexy high school student.

The movie was a success when it first came out. It earned more than $27million at the box office. However, the film has since been hailed as a cult American classic. Cates' role in one of the most memorable (and racy!) scenes in the movie will be forever remembered. The scene features Cates in a bright red bikini. Cates stated that the scene required her to wear a topless bikini. However, the experience was very different the second time.

"If I could have a photo booth and sold candy I would," she said.

Cates claims her husband is the reason she came up with the unique name for the shop. She explained that the shop's name is a subtle reference to the Fauvist blue trees. "It's the idea of this not being a natural thing in this area."

Yes! Yes! Cates and Kevin Kline have been married for over 30 years. At the time of their first meeting, there was much talk about their age differences. She was only 25 and he was 41. However, time has shown that they were meant to be together. Kline claims that their differences in age were a benefit when it came time to start a family.
