Why Did ‘Jeopardy!’ Use This Bizarrely Easy Category? It Felt Like An ‘SNL’ Joke

Jeopardy is a more difficult quiz show than other games shows. writers decided to use a very easy category. My young children could have easily answered the clues. It almost felt like we were in an SNL skit, with Will Ferrell playing Alex Trebek.

The episode aired January 24, 2023. It featured a category titled "What Season is it?". While viewers may have expected fun and challenging clues from the category, they were disappointed to learn that it was only about the four seasons. That's right. Each correct answer was either winter, spring or summer.

The answers could have been unique takes on tax season or baseball season, but the writers kept it simple. One season was actually repeated because there were only four seasons and five clues within the category. For both the $400 clue "Olympic Peninsula Apple & Cider Festival," as well as the $1000 clue "Duck hunting season (not wabbit)" the correct answer was "Fall (or autumn).

Even though the clues were extremely difficult, contestants had an average of one in four chances of correctly identifying the correct season. It's not difficult for preschoolers to name the four seasons. players will love this category.

We're curious if SNL actually created the clues, considering the quiz show offered such an easy category for contestants. It was more like the funny skits in which celebrities couldn't name numbers. We'll let the Jeopardy! team know that the show is approaching its 40th year. Nearly 9,000 episodes have been aired thus far.
