Why Jada Pinkett Smith Turned Down Tupac Proposal, How She Keeps His Memory Alive with Kids (Exclusive Details)

Why Jada Pinkett Smith Turned Down Tupac Proposal, How She Keeps His Memory Alive with Kids (Exclusive Details)

Jada, who wrote her book about the rapper's marriage proposal and why she supported him despite his sexual abuse conviction, says that she realized how little she had mourned his death.

After 27 years, Jada P. Smith realized that she had never grieved properly for Tupac's death. She wrote a memoir about her life.

Shakur's title appears a lot throughout her new memoir A Worthy Life. The book details her journey from her Baltimore childhood to her early fame and marriage to Will Smith.

"I'm developing a relationship to grieving." Jada revealed to That TooFab that she had not realized just how little I allowed myself to grieve him. "And then, I was like 'Okay. That process isn't complete.' You know?

As far as Pac is concerned, she said that there were "definitely moments" where it was "really hard" to deal with. She debated, "How much am i going to give, what will i give, and what won't l share?"

Pinkett Smith met Shakur during her sophomore year of college at Baltimore School of the Arts. She said in the book that there was no romantic chemistry at all between them, but instead called their friendship "powerful strength," which allowed them to "hold space" for each other during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Jada added that they did kiss once on a date and felt mutual disgust.

Even though he had moved to California without notice, they remained close even as he began to make major moves in the rap world. Pinkett Smith claimed that he sent her money when she was still in college before she dropped out of school and moved to Los Angeles.

They would fight passionately, and sometimes in an emotionally painful way, because of their closeness. Pinkett Smith claimed that she confronted Tupac often about the pervasiveness of disrespecting women in rap. She also said that he kept her away from his life in an effort to keep her safe.

Jada stood steadfastly by Tupac when he was accused and convicted of sexual assault. She said that she told Tupac Amaru Shakir, while visiting him in prison, "all I know is if Tupac Amaru Shakir ever enters a room with a girl, under any circumstances, she should feel safe -- regardless of what." Despite being asked to distance herself from him, she claimed she had told him this. She also claimed that while he was in Rikers, he sent her a letter stating that he had "realized the friend, lover, and soulmate were there all the time," and he wanted to marry her. Jada claims that Tupac asked his mother to marry her daughter. She considered accepting, but turned him down when she realized he was expecting conjugal visits.

"I couldn't make it." "It took a few difficult conversations but we eventually got to the place of acceptance," wrote Pac.

She continued to say that he became "different" after he got released from jail, signing with Suge in exchange for Death Row Records founder posting his $1.4m bail. She began to worry about her. She said tensions began to arise between them. He thought she went Hollywood while she worried about him joining the East Coast/West Coast Rap Wars. They had a big fight, and then they parted ways. He was shot in Las Vegas a year later. Jada had said that she would visit him in the hospital but did not go after his mother said he was in an unconscious coma, and expected to recover.

She found out that he had died in NYC while she was with Will.

She wrote that her last memory was not of him in a state of coma. She expressed doubt that Suge Knight cremated Tupac, saying Knight gave her an smirk as he dropped off the ashes at his memorial service. Jada felt, in retrospect that she let her friend down because she did not know how to be there for him. She wrote that after his death she no longer felt "the same love for hip-hop or the streets".

Jaden's son Jaden first said Tupac proposed to his mother in an interview with Big Boy, 2018 . However, he didn't give any details. Jada started laughing when she revealed that Jaden mentioned this in an earlier interview. She then explained that Pac is still present for her family.

"Oh my god! Jaden! It's hilarious! It's really funny. She told TooFab, "I know that Pac would have loved kids if he were still alive." "I think that he and Will were the best of buddies." I shared many things with them as they grew up. I wanted them all to know Pac.

Worthy will be available on Tuesday, October 17.
