Sting said that he had "put a few of my children through college" using the money Diddy gives him.
Sean Combs's every breath is a reminder of the song he sampled over 25 years ago.
Recently, the rapper and businessman confirmed that he pays Sting thousands of dollars each day.
A 2018 Sting interview was republished online by The Breakfast Club earlier this week. In which Sting claimed that the rapper paid him $2k per day after sampling the 1983 hit "Every Breath You Give", Diddy responded to the tweet to correct the amount he actually sent to The Police frontman.
"Nope. 5K per day. "Love to my brother @OfficialSting," Diddy wrote along with a clip from the interview.
If true, Diddy will pay Sting almost $2 million per year in perpetuity.
Diddy used The Police song "I'll be Missing You" from 1997 -- as a tribute to Christopher "Notorious B.I.G." Wallace, who was killed in a drive by shooting just months before. For 11 weeks, the song remained at number one on the Billboard 100.
In 2003, an English rocker claimed that he was being tipped off by a fellow countryman to sample his song.
"Elton John said to me, You gotta hear ["I'll Miss You'], you're going to be a millionaire!" I replied, "I'm a millionaire!" He replied, "You're going to be a millionaire twice!" With the proceeds, I was able to send a few of my children to college. P. Diddy and I are still good friends.
Sting is now a multi-millionaire, as it was reported that he sold his entire music collection to Universal Records last year for $300 million.
