Three glimpses of Oz from Director Jon M. Chu

While the "Wicked' movie is still a ways off, director Jon M. Chu has shared a sneak preview of the film via Instagram.

This post features the first photos of Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo in their roles as Glinda and Elphaba.

You weren't given the full story. What happens if you deviate from the Yellow Brick Road? Chu captioned the picture. "FIRST LOOOK at the #WickedMovie... currently being produced in Oz. "

The first look at the film has been eagerly awaited since it was announced in 2016. The leads were not announced until 2021. Eviro and Grande will play the iconic roles, which Idina and Kristen Chenoweth played on Broadway.

Eviro also commented on the post, writing "It has been wonderful to make magic with you."

They are also going viral because of how darkly they are lit.

Chu, however, quickly put an end to this dismay when he replied to a complaint by showing a picture of the "Wicked", which appeared vibrant and colorful.

Don't worry, we have another year and a quarter to show our colors! Chu wrote. "Trust me there are plenty of colors to be seen in Oz; we still have 70 shooting days left."

The Broadway debut of "Wicked", based on the Gregory Maguire novel "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West", was in 2003.

Jeff Goldblum announced that he will be joining the film as the Wizard in March during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Jonathan Bailey, star of "Bridgerton", will also join the cast as Fiyero. The musical's main love interest is played by Michelle Yeoh. Chu also tagged Faye Dunaway, but it is not known what role she will play.

"Wicked Part One" will be released in theaters on November 27, 2024. "Part Two" will follow in 2025.
