Harrelson said, "My life is wonderful," revealing that he was well aware of the "trending" nature of his controversial monologue.
Woody Harrelson may have been the subject of a lot of criticism on the internet for his monologue during "Saturday Night Live," however, the actor didn't appear to be affected by the backlash.
As someone who doesn't spend much time online, Esquire asked the actor if any of the controversy or backlash revolving his opening speech had ever reached him.
People told me that it was, let's say, trending. He told the publication that he doesn't even look at ---,". "I feel as if I said it on SNL. I don't have to elaborate on it any further than to say, "Well, no, I will not." Never mind. That's enough."
He added, "But it doesn't change my whole life." Not one bit if you want to be attacked by the mainstream media, right? "My life is still wonderful."
If you missed it, Harrelson was the host of the snow in February. He made headlines for his decision to criticize Covid's vaccine mandates. He spent a lot of his long speech talking about "the craziest script" that he has ever read. This included conspiracy theories regarding vaccination.
"So, the movie is this: the biggest drug cartels buy all the media and politicians in order to force everyone in the entire world to remain locked up in their homes. He said that people could only leave their homes if they took the drugs of the cartel and continued to take them.
Harrelson said, "I threw away the script." Who was going to believe this crazy idea? Forced to take drugs? "I do it voluntarily all day."
Harrelson, speaking more generally with Esquire about the Internet, said that he never reads it. It's just like when movie reviews are published. He said, "I don't read them," before explaining the damage it did to his psyche when he once did.
"I played in this play with Sean Penn in San Francisco in 2000. When I was stretching out in the apartment I was renting, there was a LA Times with a picture of Sean and me on stage. I had only heard, "Oh my god, the critics love you!" You're going be so excited! He recalled. It just so happened that I opened the newspaper to read the review. It just came after me. It made me scream for at least two or three performances. It's a deadly poison."
