His 40th birthday, the world's tallest man, was just celebrated. Sultan Kosen stopped at Ripley's Believe It Or Not! In Orlando, Sultan Kosen took a photo with the statue of the man who held the title.

Kosen celebrates his birthday with a fellow Giant

Kosen was born in 1982 and was averagely sized until he reached 10. He grew rapidly after that due to pituitary gigantism. This is a condition where there is an excess of growth hormone. Kosen's condition resulted from damage to his pituitary, which produced an excessive amount of growth hormone.

Kosen is 8 feet 3 inches tall. He traveled from Turkey to Florida for his birthday celebration. He took a picture with Robert Wadlow's towering statue while visiting Ripley’s museum.

Wadlow was once considered the tallest living man. He still holds that title. Wadlow was 22 years old when he measured his height in 1940. He was 8 feet 11.1 inches. Soon after, he died.

How being the tallest man in the world changed his life

Ripley's Believe It Or Not! Only ten confirmed cases have been reported of someone measuring 8 feet. Kosen was the first person to measure over 8 feet in 20 years when he did so in 2009.

Kosen said, "After that day [that was when I was declared the tallest man in all of the world], I became a human being," Ripley's. "Before that I was very quiet. I can now talk. I'm happy. I'm funny. I enjoy my life."

Kosen's birthday wish: 'Travel...And to Keep My Record'

Kosen's title of the tallest man on the planet has earned him worldwide recognition and opportunities to travel around the world. He has been to 127 countries so far. Kosen shared his birthday wish with Ripley's Orlando location when he lit his candles.

Kosen stated, "[I] want to] travel to the remaining countries that I haven't visited so far." He then laughed, "And to maintain my record title." He seems to be able to keep his title as tallest man for many more years!
