Girl Scout Cookie Season is rapidly approaching. However, GSHQ has made an announcement that it may be over by the end of the year.

Here are the facts about this year's cookie-season.

Scouts Thrive Throughout Pandemic

Girl Scout cookies are now included in the list of items that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Scouts reported lower sales last year than normal. COVID continues its assault on GS through supply chain disruptions and labor shortages.

According to the Washington Post, GS blamed their lack of inventory on "extremely large demand and COVID-related labor shortfalls."

Two commercial baking companies are used by the Girl Scouts. Little Brownie Bakers are located in Louisville, Kentucky and ABC Bakers, out of Richmond, Virginia.

"Little Brownie Bakers will work diligently to address any impact that the labor shortage may have," reads the statement. "GSUSA is working closely with both cookie companies in an effort to find a solution before the cookie season ends."

We are not the only ones who are at risk of losing our cookies. Cookies directly fund programs and activities of troops. Scouts' funding suffers when cookie sales drop.

Samoas are a sad thing to do for a year. There are many reasons. But, luckily, not all cookies are in critical supply.

Some cookies are safer than others

According to GSUSA COVID-related shortages affect only one of the 11 Girl Scout cookie flavours. The East coast will be more affected than the other regions by the shortage.

Although the GS stated that they could fulfill orders placed with individual scouts it won't be able to fill additional orders at local booths. This means that you need to ask your family members and coworkers if they are selling cookies .

Crowd favorites such as Thin Mints and Samoas won't be affected by the labor and supply shortages. S'mores and Toffee-tastic are two other safe flavors.

Scouts' Adventureful, the Scouts' new flavor, is this year's key cookie. This new addition to the cookie catalog is a cookie-brownie mix. The caramel-flavored creme is topped with sea salt (drool).

This combination combines the best of all your old favorite flavors. The Adventureful is a combination of Samoa's caramel-y sweetness and the chocolate crispiness of a Thin Mint.

This cookie contains all your favorite flavors in one. It's limited supply and highly sought-after. Do not wait to grab one or more boxes, otherwise you will be stuck waiting for 2023.
