To their adoring fans, professional athletes can be near-mythical figures. Their athletic abilities — often coupled with their larger-than-life personalities — cement their status in sports history as champions of both physical strength and mental fortitude. After all, it's hard to imagine a career that requires more rigorous physical training than that of a pro athlete. But what happens when a beloved sports icon decides to hang up their jersey in favor of a different career path? A proclivity for hitting home runs isn't necessarily a transferable skill, is it?
