"Touring seems odd to me. It doesn't really suit me."

It may sound like a fantasy to play in front of thousands of people every night, but it can be a very demanding experience for some musicians. Touring can be physically and mentally exhausting for musicians. They have to travel from city to city, perform late at night and spend long periods away from their families. Some of the biggest stars in the world admit they don't like touring. Even though fans want to see their favourite performers on tour sometimes, it's not the best idea.

1. Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus is not planning to embark on another major tour. Her fans may want her to, but she does not. She explained recently that she loves to perform, but touring is "not a natural thing" and "isolating because when you're infront of 100,000 people you are alone."

"After my last [headline tour], I looked at it more as a question. I cannot. Can't is not only your ability, but also my desire. "Do I want to live for someone else's enjoyment or fulfillment, other than myself?" She told British Vogue. "Singing for thousands of people, isn't what I love. There is no connection. "There's no safety."

Miley clarified her remarks in a statement she shared on Instagram last week.

"I feel more connected than ever to my fans. "When I win, WE all win." "She began. Even if I do not see them every night, the fans in my life are still very much present. I am constantly innovating and creating new ways to stay connected with the audience that I love, without sacrificing myself.

She continued, "Performing for YOU was some of the most memorable days of my career & we'll continue on this journey together just as we have done for almost 20 years." This has nothing to with a lack in appreciation for fans and everything to do because I don't like to prepare myself in a dressing room. This is life on the road.

These looks that I have been turning do not travel well. The archived looks do not fold. Miley said, "I just don't like sleeping on a bus that's moving." She added that she "feels this way now, but may change her mind in the future."

2. Shawn Mendes

Shawn Mendes has recently decided to cancel his entire upcoming tour in order to prioritise his mental health. In an open letter, Shawn Mendes admitted that he did not realize the "toll" of touring and was unprepared for the "difficulty" of it.

"I had no choice but to postpone my last few shows because I was not prepared for how much it would cost me to be back on the road. Shawn wrote: "I started this tour eager to get back on stage after the pandemic break, but I wasn't prepared for the difficulty of touring after such a long time."

He added, "After talking more with my team, and working with a group of incredible health professionals, I have become more aware that I need to take time to ground myself, and come back stronger."

3. Adele

Adele revealed, as she wrapped up her tour to promote her album "25", that she did not think she was good at touring. Adele wrote to her fans in a handwritten note that she was finally used to touring after 15 months, but still did not like it.

She wrote: "Touring is an odd thing. It doesn't really suit me." "I am a homebody who finds joy in small things. Plus, I'm dramatic with a bad history of touring. It's been a while! "I've done 119 concerts...It was a hard-out, but an absolute thrill and a pleasure to have performed."

Adele revealed that, prior to the release of "30", she did not plan on touring around the album. She didn't tour, but she scheduled a Las Vegas residency to help her stay put while performing.

4. Zayn Malik

Zayn Malik's relationship with being onstage and touring has always been complicated. In 2016, Zayn Malik revealed that he had intense anxiety, which made touring and performing difficult. Zayn had to cancel many shows in order to improve his health.

I've worked over the past three months to overcome extreme anxiety about major solo live performances. I think I'm making progress, but today I acknowledged that I don't feel confident enough to proceed with the planned Dubai show," he wrote then, adding later, "I can't apologize enough." I'm sure those who have anxiety will be able to relate and I hope that those who do not can also empathize.

5. Britney Spears

Britney Spears is no stranger to the struggles of the entertainment industry, and this includes touring. She wrote in 2021 that she did not see herself touring again, because she hated it so much before.

"I'm no longer playing in large arenas with loud bands, but I will admit that life on the road can be hard. !!" She wrote this in an old post that has since been deleted. "My first three year in the business and on the road was great, but I will be honest and say that I do not want to do this again after these three tours and pace I went at. !! "I hated it! !!"

6. Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson revealed before his death that he didn't enjoy life on tour. Michael Jackson listed the difficulties he had with a tour in an outtake of an interview. He mentioned things like changing time zones and sleeping problems.

"I don't want it." Michael stated in an interview that he goes through hell on tour.

7. Eminem

Eminem doesn't like touring, and it was said that he had a hard time going on tour when his daughter Hailie grew up. Eminem's friend 50 Cent said that Eminem often flew home after concerts so he could bring Hailie to school on the next day. It was tiring.

"I've done more touring than him, because he has Hailie and he wants to be physically at home." Many people do not know why he tours less. Hailie would place boxes in front the door, thinking that this would stop her from going", he told MTV. He would fly home on a private jet after the show to drive Hailie to school the next morning. For him, the tour was exhausting.

Skylar Gray

Skylar Grey, who worked with Eminem to create "Love The Way You Lie", admits that she's not a fan of touring. She says that she loves the shows but the rest of it is not for her. She would rather be in the studio, or play one-off concerts.

"I don't like being on the road. Everyone in the industry will disagree with me. I do not enjoy traveling. I love the shows, but I don't like the traveling, the being away from my family, and all the other stuff. It's not worth waking up every morning to do something that you dislike. So I enjoy being in studio. Making music videos is something I enjoy. "I'm just a little bit designing my career," she said to Variety.

9. Billy Joel

Billy Joel says that as his career progressed, he became less enthusiastic about touring. Over time, he explained, the monotony of touring became too much for him and his relationships. He now prefers to do one-off concerts or residencies.

"We used do five or six gigs per week. You're like a teenage group when you first start out, traveling around the globe with your friends. It's very exciting. He told Billboard that "after a couple of year, you are Willy Loman from 'Death of a Salesman'." He added, "It is not good to have a relationship be away for so long." I then became a "homey."

10. Barbra Streisand

Barbra Streisand took a break from touring when, in 1967, she forgot the lyrics of one of her songs. She did not tour for another 27 years, and now has permanently stopped touring. She says that she finds it exhausting.

"No. No. I'm sure. I don't know. It's too vulnerable. It's just too difficult for me. It's too hard for me. Many performers perform for 200 or 300 days per year. They love it. "I wish I could feel that way", she said to Billboard. "It's lucrative, but I'm not able to do it. It's too difficult. I plan what I will eat after I finish the show. You know, I planned the meals after the performance so that I would be free from anxiety."
