19-Year-Old Titan Passenger Was 'Terrified' About Fatal Submersible Trip, Says Aunt

The aunt of the young man says that he went on the trip with his father because it fell during Father's Day Weekend.

Suleman dawood, the 19-year old victim of Titan tragedy had strong reservations before the fatal trip.

According to Azmeh Dawood - who lost touch with her sister, Shahzada Dawood - in recent years, but stayed in touch with her nephew - told NBC News Suleman had told a relative he was "not very up for" diving and "terrified" of the trip.

OceanGate victims' families speak out on tragedy: "United in Grief"

She said that he boarded the OceanGate submarine because he "wanted to please his father" -- a Titanic enthusiast -- and because the trip took place on Father's Day.

"I think of Suleman who is 19 and may be gasping for air in there." "It's been crippling to be honest," Azmeh admitted on Thursday, before her brother and nephew's deaths were confirmed.

She said that after their deaths were confirmed by the Coast Guard, and OceanGate she was "disbelieving" of the "unreal situation." Azmeh said, "I'm feeling like I was caught up in a bad movie, where you were counting down, but didn't realize what you were counting down to." "It's been difficult for me to breathe when I think about them."

Shahzada, his wife Christine and their children survived a terrifying experience aboard a plane that "took a steep plunge" years before the Titan trip.

Christine wrote about the terrifying incident in a blog post from 2019. She said that, after the first drop, "the entire cabin let out a simultaneous cry which then turned into a whimper, and then silence" before another plunge.

She said that Shahzada told her later he thought about all the opportunities he had missed and what he wanted to teach his children. Then she added the skies "went black" and "engulfed, teased, and instilled fear and courage into some."

"My husband was facing me. Our eyes were locked, and our hands linked. There were no words needed. We were both scared, but we were together. "Until death do ...' Don't go there!" She continued before the plane touched down onto the runway.

"We were safe on the ground, but my throat felt like a noose had tightened around it. "I felt someone squeeze my hand, and I heard them talking to me. But I was still frozen," she concluded. It was then that I realized that my life would never be the way it used to be.

The Coast Guard and OceanGate Expeditions confirmed on Thursday that the worst had happened: Stockton Rush and Shahzada Dawood of OceanGate Expeditions, Hamish Harding and Titanic enthusiast Paul-Henri Nargeolet, along with billionaire Hamish and adventurer Hamish, all died aboard this vessel which disappeared shortly after its Sunday dive.
