8 Celebs Who Have Struggled With Long COVID

Bethenny Frankel, alumnus of "RHONY", said: "I'm on a journey to get answers."

COVID, a virus that has been around for three years now, has affected millions. Many people have recovered from COVID, but others still struggle with symptoms that persist for months and even years. According to the CDC anyone with "symptoms or conditions that persist or develop" more than four weeks following an initial infection may be suffering from Post COVID Conditions.

Many doctors do not know why some people are affected long-term by COVID, and research is still ongoing to find a treatment. Long COVID is affecting even celebrities who have access to the best medical treatment. Gwyneth paltrow and Bethenny frankel have been very open about their experience.

Check out what the stars have to say about Long Covid...

1. Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth says that "after having COVID very early" in the pandemic she started to experience long-term effects like fatigue and fog. Gwyneth Paltrow has been treating Long-COVID for the last two years with a specific diet. This includes fasting up until noon, and eating foods such as bone broth and vegetables at dinner.

She shared her diagnosis on Instagram. "I have long COVID and it manifests itself for me as very high levels in inflammation over time," added she, "working with [Will] Cole, to really focus on food that isn't an inflammatory."

She went on to say, "This is based upon my medical tests and extensive testing I've done throughout the years... It's just what's worked for me." It has been very powerful and positive."

2. Bethenny Frankel

Bethenny has had health problems for a long time. She began with an auto-immune condition called POTS. She has been experiencing a variety of symptoms since contracting COVID. Bethenny also says that she suffers from "severe neck pains" in addition to the fatigue, dizziness, and fast heartbeat caused by POTS. Bethenny, who suffered a nearly fatal allergic reaction to a fish last year is now trying to find the answers.

"I'm on a journey to find answers and am serious about it. It's a lot of information to digest, from long COVIDs to body pains to dehydration and dark circles to autoimmune diseases. I've realized that doing things in pieces in both life and health is not the best way to go. She wrote: "I need to solve this puzzle." "I don't give a damn about how I look. "I don't care what others think of me." "I care about my health and how I feel for my daughter and my family and for you."

3. Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish claims that it took her months to recover after she contracted COVID in the year 2022. Billie Eilish says that the initial COVID infection was "miserable and terrible," but she continued to be sick for nearly two months.

"It was awful." It was awful. I did not die and I wasn’t going to die. It was horrible. It was terrible. I still feel the side effects. She said, "I was sick for almost two months," on the "Howard Stern Show," and added, "I believe if I hadn't been vaccinated I would have died because it was so bad."

4. Colin Farrell

Colin Farrell says he has had COVID two times and that it took him a month to recover the first time. Colin Farrell said that he would stay away from the media for a while after his second COVID infection in order to avoid long-term symptoms.

It likes to throw a party. He told CBS Sunday Morning that he was experiencing headaches, fever, and temperature. "I will be doing very little for the next few months. The first time, I ran again about a week or so after I tested negative. I got sick and had the long COVID.

5. Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek almost ended up in hospital when she was diagnosed with COVID early in the pandemic. Salma Hayek refused to go to the hospital, even though her doctor pleaded with her. She said that she would "rather die" at home. Salma spent seven weeks in an isolated room at home, but even then, she continued to experience symptoms. She spent most of 2020 recuperating and wasn't able to return to her job until the next year.

It lingered. I took a long time to recover. The COVID lasted a long time. I was very tired until I received the vaccination. I have no idea why, but now I'm fine...I used to get a lot palpitations. I thought it was an anxiety attack. Turns out, it's a COVID symptom. She said, "Nobody was talking about that," on "Live With Kelly and Ryan."

6. Alyssa Milano

Alyssa's COVID journey began with an acute infection in early 2020. She experienced symptoms such as shortness of breathe, loss of scent, and heart palpitations. She says that even though she was negative after 12 day, she still had symptoms. Alyssa revealed that in 2022 a CT scan showed the small blood vessel capacity of her lungs was only 30%.

"I've always had all the symptoms, whether they are from COVID acute or COVID long, and I've had them all." She told NBC New York that she had shortness of breath and heart palpitations. "I also experienced brain fog and exhaustion by 4 o'clock at night, tingling and numbness in my feet and hands, and forgetfulness."

Alyssa has been treated, but she says that she still struggles in 2023.

7. Lena Dunham

Lena Dunham, a Hollywood actress and writer, has had to deal with many health problems throughout her life. She shared that even though she had been infected with the virus early in 2020, and spent a month in isolation, she still experienced symptoms by July that same year. She suffered from fatigue, "unceasing headache[s]", and swollen feet and hands. Later, her doctor discovered that the pituitary had "almost completely ceased to operate" and that her arthritis had flared.

Doctors are learning about the serious long-term effects of a Covid-19 infected patient every hour. Experts are working hard to contain and prevent the spread of Covid-19. We've never seen medicine move so quickly. We don't understand the long-term impact of this disease on people's minds and bodies" she wrote in an Instagram post.

Dave Navarro

Dave Navarro was diagnosed with COVID for the first time in December 2021. Five months later, he still had symptoms. In an Instagram message, Dave wrote he had fatigue and did not know when he'd feel like himself again. Dave was forced to cancel a Jane's Addiction concert in September of that year while he managed his symptoms. He has yet to return to the band because of health problems.

"So yeah, it's me who has the long haul covid. "I've been sick since December, and I will supposedly be back to my normal self in... no one knows how long," wrote he in the now deleted post. "If you're still struggling after you've received negative results, you're not alone." It's hard to deal with the fatigue and loneliness, but spend time with those you love. Stay creative. This is how I am trying to make it through. Meditation, yoga and spiritual practices have also been helpful. "I'll be fine, but I don't know exactly when."
