9 Celebrity Moms Who Got Real About Welcoming Children Later In Life

9 Celebrity Moms Who Got Real About Welcoming Children Later In Life

At 30, I knew I wouldn't have been able to do it properly.

There's never a perfect time to start a family. Some people decide to start a family when they are newlyweds while others wait until their later years to have children. Some celebrity mothers waited until their 40s or later to have children. Waiting until their 40s (or later!) was the best choice for some celebrity moms. Looking back, these women now know they made the best choice. Motherhood was worth the wait.

Listen to what celebrities have said about being a mom.

1. Hoda K. Kotb

Hoda Kotb, who is in her fifties, adopted two daughters. She loves being a mom older than her age but admits that she has faced criticism. She revealed that she received a handwritten note from a "TODAY' viewer who condemned her for having children later in her life. Hoda was shocked that anyone would take the time to pen such a harsh note.

"I opened the envelope, and the message was along the lines of: 'How dare a person your age bring a baby into the world? You don't know what you are doing to the child. It continued. This was the 'ouch' that I felt. "I was afraid, I thought, 'Is it smart to do this, and will I help or harm?' Hoda told her story.

She reflected on the importance of having her father with her, even for a brief time, when she was a college student. She said, "I understand the foundation that he left." "I know that every second was worth it."

2. Eva Longoria

Eva Longoria had her son at the age of 43. She believes that the child came to her just when she needed him. She says that although she is older than many parents, her age has made her more patient with her son and allowed her to spend more quality time with him.

"Santi was supposed to be with my at this point in my life. I am patient and I work less -- even though it may not seem like that! She told Parents that it was the perfect time after she welcomed her son.

3. Diane Kruger

Diane Kruger, who became a mother for the first-time at 42, says that she was probably not ready to do so earlier. She admits to feeling "resentful", at one time, of the amount of work involved in parenting. But now, she is happy to do all that.

"I'm so glad I didn't have a child at 30." Diane said to Sunday Telegraph, "I think I would have resented all of the things you had to give up. Today I am glad to have done so." "I've been to all the parties, and I've been to all the countries that I wanted. So, I am 100 percent willing and ready to give that attention to my child. "But at 30, I knew I wouldn't have been able to do it properly."

4. Halle Berry

Halle Berry gave birth to her son at the age of 41. She welcomed her daughter at the age of 47. Halle Berry explained that waiting until she was in her 40s made sense for her. She knows herself better now.

You're much better prepared to become a parent at 40 than you were when you were 20. You know yourself much better. You've done many things selfishly for yourself. "I think you can do more for your children if you wait until later in life," she told Us Weekly.

5. Geena Davis

Geena welcomed her two children at the age of 40 and said it was "exactly right" for her. She waited to find the perfect partner and felt that she already had her life planned out.

Genna, a Good Housekeeping contributor, said: "I knew I'd be a much better parent if I had started five years ago and even ten or twenty years earlier." "I know there are people younger than me who have learned things much earlier, but I was fortunate to find the perfect person and the right time for me to become a parent."

6. Cameron Diaz

Cameron Diaz, who welcomed her daughter at the age of 47, says that she hopes to live until "110", so they can grow older together. She admits that she is "the oldest mother in [her] girlfriend group with children," but says she feels lucky to be where she is.

She said on the "Goop Podcast" that she was lucky to be her age, to have the girlfriends she has, to have her daughter and to receive all the help I give to raise her.

7. Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman had already been a mother to two children by the time she added two more in her forties. Nicole Kidman says she is looking forward to the future and hopes to live long enough to see her children grow.

It makes me sad. I'd like to stay around long enough for my children to grow up, and to see their success. Nicole said on CBS Sunday Morning, "That's all I want." I'm an old mother so, you'll know...It is that prayer, "God, let me be there."

8. Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek welcomed her daughter at the age of 40. She says she is more patient and appreciates their time together because she decided to be a mother later in life. Her daughter gets a better mother by waiting.

"I am a happier person now than I was 10 years ago. "She's a better mom for being born today," she said to Grow by WebMD. "I've been through enough in my life to be able to appreciate the time spent with her. It's my No. 1 priority, and I don't feel like I'm missing anything...I'm more patient. "I wouldn't change this for the world."

9. Diane Keaton

Diane Keaton adopted her two children when she was 50 years old. She knows that it may be odd for her children to have an older parent, but she believes she can be a much better mother to them now.

She told Ladies' Home Journal, "My life took a certain path and then I found myself 50 years old with no purpose. I just wanted to have a family." In some ways, my children are fortunate because I am less self-absorbed now. They know that they have an older parent and it must be strange for them.
