A suspect was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
A woman was charged with attempted murder after she shoved a passenger in front of an oncoming train.
NYPD released Monday's disturbing video of a blind female victim who was waiting at Times Square subway station for an 8 AM train. A woman leaps up from her back and pushes the victim into the train's path.
The victim did not fall in front of the train by more than milliseconds. Investigators still consider the attack an attempt on her safety.
Facial injuries were suffered by the 42-year old woman, who was taken to hospital. She is expected to survive.
It wasn't clear if the attack was random, or if there had been a dispute between the women before; however, Tim Minton, MTA Acting CEO, stated that it was "unprovoked and senseless"
The suspect was immediately arrested by police, who launched a search for her. By Tuesday morning, the suspect had been identified as Anthonia Egegbara (29-year-old Queen's resident), PIX11 reported.
Passengers were on edge during the attack.
It's scary. I usually try to keep my distance from the train and stand back. One of my children told CBS2 that she is often with her kids so she feels safe.
"When I get on the subway platform, I make sure I have something to grab," said a second.
Another commented that "We are all often in our phones and stuff or listening to music. We're not always 100% aware.
They are not the only ones worried about being pushed in front a train; hours later, a man in his 30s was shot in the leg on the exact same platform.
