AGT: Visually Impaired Singer with Autism, Who Was Adopted by Her Teacher, Wins Golden Buzzer

AGT: Visually Impaired Singer with Autism, Who Was Adopted by Her Teacher, Wins Golden Buzzer

When Heidi presented me with the Golden Buzzer I was shocked because I thought, "Wait! Maybe I deserve this!" "Even though I am so weird!" said Lavender Darcangelo.

Heidi Klum has just been selected as the next Gold Buzzer Winner on America's Got Talent

Lavender Darcangelo was the final auditionee on the episode of Tuesday night, but ultimately she won over the judges.

Lavender said to People that she was surprised by her big moment. Since I was a child, my dream has always been to record CDs and sing in front large audiences. It was like deja vu when Heidi handed me the Golden Buzzer. I had imagined this as a four-year-old.

"I thought I was still 4 years old, lying on my couch and daydreaming like usual! She continued. "[My] Audition for AGT is all a blur." It was like I was numb, or beside myself - but in a positive way -- walking on air without movement.

Lavender's father Wil was also on stage. Wil adopted Lavender "later in her life" after Lavender participated in his music program after school. Wil told the audience Lavender has autism and is visually impaired.

She said, "I have been singing for three years, and I didn't speak until I was four-and-a-half." She added that she was on the show because "she has a lot of dreams."

Wil explained that when Lavender asked him to adopt her, he said "Well, I am a member in a faculty and this is not how it works." "But after a few years, she was struggling and the day we returned from our honeymoon she moved in with my husband Jamie and me. Then, a year later, she was our legal daughter."

"Lavender asked me to adopt Lavender, but I refused because I am a member of the faculty and that is not how it works."

Lavender performed Out here on my own taken from the 1980 musical fame. Her performance was praised by all the judges but Heidi was especially moved.

As a kid, I was obsessed with the movie fame. I loved it when she sang 'Out Here on My Own. Klum said to People. "I felt an immediate connection with Lavender, and I knew I wanted to be the biggest cheerleader for her in this competition."

She said, "I feel as if I've just fallen in love. This AGTjourney has been an incredible journey. I would love to cheer you on and hold your hands all the way through the finish," during the episode. What do you think? "Let's get started!"

We were shocked, to be honest. We had no idea what could happen. "We knew people would like Lavender because they always do," Lavender’s fathers told People by email. The biggest stage on the planet is AGT, which has so many talented performers. "We were moved by their complete acceptance of her."

"My dad Wil helped me answer questions from AGT judges but that might be okay!" It's possible that it is a good idea to start a school where kids and adults play until they find an interest. Maybe I'm Normal?"

The fathers continued, "It's a validation gift for Lavender to be able to live her authentic life free of judgment." It's proof she's a musician and also a homebody and on the Autism Spectrum, who would rather play on a swingset than live up to the expectations of the music business. She might be able to believe in herself a little more, compared to how much we already do.

Lavender also talked about how she felt when she received the Golden Buzzer, and how it changed her perspective on life.

"When Heidi presented me with the Golden Buzzer I was shocked because I realized that I might have earned it. Even though I am so weird! I had my dad Wil help me answer questions from the AGT Judges, but that might be okay! It's possible that it is a good idea to start a school where kids and adults play until they find an interest. Maybe I am normal?" She said.

Lavender concluded, "I realize that many people who appear on AGT are unique and my ideas would be appreciated if they helped them." "I want to let people know that there's no one way to live life."
