Many Hollywood stars have complained about being victim to "cancel culture", claiming they are forced to hide or lose their jobs because of what they've done or said. Chrissy Teigen, is one example of such a famous person. This year's scandals have been a challenge for the model, but it has proven that even those who are "canceled" are still visible.
Teigen Was Accused Of Cyberbullying
The biggest scandal in 2021 for Teigen was her revelation that she had cyberbullied Courtney Stodden over many years. She even went so far as telling them to commit suicide. Stodden, who was just 51 years old when she married Doug Hutchison, became the talk of 2011 thanks to her marriage. The scandal attracted attention from media and celebrities including Teigen.
Teigen's Twitter account was flooded with tweets that expressed her disgust at Stodden. These tweets range from "I hate You" to "Go." To sleep. Stodden claimed that they were sent messages by Teigen in which Teigen told them to kill their bodies and said "I can't WAIT for you to die."
Teigen was then removed from television shows and dropped from brand partnerships. Although she eventually did apologize, many believe that she did this to protect future and current brand deals. Teigen sent a series tweets in which she apologized for her actions, and Stodden accepted. They claimed Teigen never contacted her privately, which Teigen says she did. And that Stodden was blocked on Twitter.
In an interview with Today, she stated that "Everyone deserves better" and added that even her detractors deserve it. And that is what you can count on from me. I believe the world needs more kindness, love and compassion. Since the last decade, I have been on a journey of self-improvement and it will continue."
People Blast Teigen For 'Tone Deaf' Posts
Teigen was not the only one to face this media storm. Teigen was also accused of being tone-deaf after throwing a Squid Game-themed party.
Teigen was also criticized for posting a photo in which she and her children, Luna, and Miles, were bathing together. Insta users quickly commented on the photo and called it inappropriate.
Teigen is subject to internet anger for almost every action she takes. However, many people who complain about being victims to "cancel culture", claim they are completely ignored once they make a mistake. Teigen's constant presence on the news makes it clear that people who are "canceled" don't mind being in the spotlight.
