Bachelorette Blowup: Charity Confronts Xavier Following Infidelity Admission, 'Villain' Brayden

Bachelorette Blowup: Charity Confronts Xavier Following Infidelity Admission, 'Villain' Brayden

The Bachelorette Men Tell All features Charity catching up with Xavier and Brayden, and the majority of men she has broken up with. She also learns about the cruel prank that the guys played on Peter and the reasons they eliminated him Night 1.

Men Tell All was jam-packed as the guys got to finally address the drama of the season amongst themselves and with charity. The most vile thing said was something that we had never seen on television.

Brayden was again making some noise, and Sean was also causing some controversy. But it was the same stuff that was already argued throughout the season.

Bachelor Nation stars who have come out as LGBTQ+

Charity had the most (legitimate) beef with Xavier. She asked him why he didn't admit to cheating on his previous girlfriend until the very last minute, even though he told her that he was honest for weeks beforehand.

There is no reason to wait this long. Unless he hoped to build a strong response to counteract the trigger that this would cause. It didn't make things any easier that he implied that being faithful was going to be difficult even now.

Unexpectedly, however, the person who elicited the most hate was a man we barely knew. Peter was one of the six men eliminated the first night. He got a mere few minutes on screen. The other guys appeared to dislike the guy.

FP

The other "Pilot Pete," who is also a pilot, explained that he had been participating in a cast Zoom when he realized the others were tagging social media posts "FP" or something similar.

Brayden, the "villain", was finally the one to tell him what was going on. And yes, it meant "F----k Peter!" He was genuinely confused as to why the guys who he had barely spoken with for more than five minutes were so hostile towards him.

They didn't hesitate in telling him. Aaron S called him a "bitch", and said he immediately asked about endorsement deals, and talked about getting a T-shirt after his appearance on the show.

Caleb B said that he had also been unkind to the other guys in the room the first night. He was accused of having a F.U. attitude or of making sure to pose on his best side before talking to anyone. Peter took these criticisms very quietly.

Xavier apologized at least for his "FP" comment and acknowledged that it was a little immature. And it was. There are better ways to express your frustration, no matter how a---- Peter was that first night or after.

What about a chat?

Foot-in-Mouth

You need to know how you can have a good conversation. This is a skill that Xavier did not possess before he appeared on the show. We were never sure what he was doing with Charity.

It felt as if there was a distance between them, but now we know that it probably wasn't. Xavier was aware that Charity had been cheated upon and this was a major trigger. He probably carried this secret all season and it was weighing him down.

He decided to tell her last week and the episode went as badly as could be expected. Even worse, he said tonight that he wanted to assure her that he wouldn't cheat on her.

Even Xavier, who admitted that he had put his foot into his mouth, could tell when the recording was played that he was essentially assuring her that he would do the opposite. He also had to watch her facial expressions. Did he know how bad he had screwed this up?

It didn't help either that Xavier emotes as little as drywall. So it was impossible to tell how he took the conversation. This meant that he did not offer any facial expressions or body language to help soften the blows.

He has admitted that he is going to therapy to work on his own issues. Charity was not a target of his ill feelings, but he has yet to sort out his own emotions. He knitted her a flower to thank and say goodbye.

Bad Boy Brayden

Brayden was also tagged as a villain this season, but our feelings are mixed about them both. Brayden's claim that he has always been his genuine and true self is also something we want to criticize. Charity and the other guys would have agreed with him.

We think that he fell for the easy trap of men who posturing each other. We would say that the use of "bro" is an easy way to tell if a man is likely to be prone towards this behavior. Some guys see everything as a game, and they don't want to appear weak or vulnerable.

It's easy to be Charity. While both sides of Brayden are the real him in different situations, they're not the same. To find his true self, he needs to stop trying so hard to be a man in front of others.

We're not certain if he is a villain or not. Or at least, we don't believe he is a horrible person, a narcissist or egotist or a jerk. Sean was also a bit self-centered. It seems that their greatest fault is this.

Brayden didn't seem to care when asked about the time he stole when he returned home. He was more concerned about clarifying and apologizing to Charity. He was only thinking of himself. Does this make him a bad guy? You may have different results.

Sean did the exact same thing after he had a one-on-1 with Charity. This was rude and even more so because Sean was still in contention for the game.

It's also a brutal competition, where only one person can win. Is it a good strategy to steal more time from your opponents? Your mileage may differ. Your mileage may vary depending on how nice or unkind you want to make your Bachelor Nation players.

Charity did not seem to harbor any ill feelings towards the boys, except for Xavier. She was upset at the way Brayden spoke about her, and their relationship with the "boys," yet he was really doing what many guys do to gain points or clout.

This is a thing that has been around for as long as men have existed. Most guys grow out of it.

Golden Gerry

Brayden's emotional reaction to the new Golden Bachelor Gerry’s tale is another indication that he seems like a decent person. The story included the 43-year romance with his high school sweetheart as well as pictures of his family.

Gerry is well-versed in the meaning of love. He doesn't know what "Gerry Can Geddit" or "Trending" is, nor does he understand why he has been called "Grandzaddy," yet he knows what love is and how to live a fulfilling life.

He has already experienced the dream, but now he wants to do it again. Gerry is such a genuine, likable person, that it will be refreshing to watch his journey towards love.

Gerry brings a lifetime's worth of experience to the game. Just like we enjoy watching older players in shows such as Survivor or Big Brother, whose life experiences give them a different perspective than younger players who are more enthusiastic than logical.

We expect his journey to be unlike any other season in this franchise. However, we could be wrong. We expect plenty of drama because love is messy. We're also interested in the perspective of those with a longer history, as they are more likely to have experienced trauma.

Gerry is so charming, so delightful that we are already in love. If half the women in his season are as charming as Gerry, we will be smiling and crying throughout his entire season.

Bachelor In Paradise will continue Brayden’s story. It is possible that the show may wait until winter to air. Next month, Gerry will begin his journey on The Golden Bachelor. Charity's tenure as the Bachelorette ends next Monday, 8pm ET, on ABC.

Men Talk All Chatter

  • We're not going to waste time, Brother. What would you say to him? What do you have to say to that man?" --Jesse
  • What do I have to say?" You were very manipulative in the way you manipulated Charity. You say, "Listen, this is tough for me. I don't think I'm going to get there." You never would have gotten there. You started saying, "Well, it's because she's always on, she's the Bachelorette. I can't see her true side, so, excuse me for not getting there." --Sean
  • Your doubts were about her. Sean (diffusing his own doubts that he was ready)
  • This guy was running on emotion. How could you blame him? --Aaron S (about Brayden returning after self-eliminating)
  • It got in the path of others advancing their connection. --Xavier
  • This ain't 'bout them, dude. It's about her and their connection. --Aaron S
  • "His connection ended." --Xavier
  • "Brayden you always said that you were the real one and everyone else was a fake." --Jesse
  • It's not like they were fake. "It's just their realness differs from mine, I suppose." -Brayden
  • "How so?" --Jesse
  • It would be a lie for people to claim that they don't put on a certain level of facade. It's amazing that people are editing their swear words. --Brayden
  • "Did I ever say classless?" "Did I ever say classless?"
  • "Yeah!" --crowd
  • Okay, maybe I did." "Okay, so maybe I did."
  • His biggest problem is that he is too honest, and has weird earrings. I don't think it's a big deal. --James (about Brayden)
  • After the season ended, we held a Zoom call with all of the cast members. The short version is that 15 or 16 guys put their initials "FP" after their post at the end their headshots. Brayden came to me to tell me that it was a joke and meant, "F--k Peter." I went to sleep that night feeling a little confused and a bit upset. I didn't even know these guys. "I met them for two or five minutes and it really touched me to have this posted online." --Peter
  • Why would you post that on the internet? --Peter (to guys)
  • You are a scumbag. You are a bitch. --Aaron S
  • You said f--- you to everyone who tried to talk to you, or to them. You did the same to everyone. You just did the same thing to everyone."
  • Homey, after everyone had returned home and asked about sponsorship deals, you were first on the Zoom call to ask. You were on TV for five seconds. Five seconds. I remember you saying "Thanks for making me famous." and laughing. I'll make a shirt out of it." --Aaron S
  • "What bothered me was watching it back and seeing that she felt all those things for myself." --Bradyen
  • Sincerity: "I didn't give a damn about your time." I didn't want to take anyone else's precious time. "I cared about making amends to someone I hurt." Brayden (about returning)
  • I didn't like the way you spoke about our relationship with a lot of guys. It was hard to watch the video back. I felt like my authentic self was always there for you. --Charity (to Brayden)
